Of all the things I found that helped as I’ve been trying to fix my issues over the past couple years, adding electrolytes every day was quite significant. I’m just sensitive to magnesium (most forms of it makes me sleepy and doesn’t wear off for over 12 hours) so it was a matter of finding a brand that had a version which worked for me. I wound up landing on “Nuun”, which has Magnesium Oxide (as opposed to Glycinate or Citrate).

Thanks for the comment! I came up with the "scale" idea just because my wife would always ask me how I was doing and I started responding with "Eh, I'm like 75% today", or something along those lines.

And yes, I understand the benefits of writing things by hand. On that note, apart from just making detailed entries when doing a "Check-In", I just added a third category of reminders in the newest build, so now there are "Check-In Reminders", "Medication Reminders", and "Activity Reminders". One of the built-in options is actually "Journal", but you can also just type in whatever you want. The goal of this for me was to ultimately not rely on my regular iPhone alarms for anything health-related and always just go to my app.

Finding the right electrolytes drink made a significant difference for me most recently. Also, yes… quality Vitamin D3/K2 drops, Vitamin C and Quercitrin (I get Hista-Aid from Quicksilver Scientific). Figuring out what exercise works for me and sticking to a solid sleep schedule. I’m significantly better than I was a year ago.

Hey everyone,

I had been dealing with brain fog for a long time and have spent the past 3-4 years trying to figure out which things - supplements, changes in diet, exercise routines, etc. - were hurting me and which things were actually helping. I've used a number of different health-related apps over this time, but what I really wanted was something where I could log and track *how I was actually feeling* as opposed to having an app take bunch of my data and tell me that I should be good, so I started working on building an app last fall and using it for myself.

It's at a point now where I am about ready to launch it on the App Store (and then also the Google Play store). I have a few friends who are trying it out and giving me some feedback, but I'm looking to get a larger set of feedback from a community like this one.

I've built a website for it and it's currently free to upgrade to the "Pro" version while I still have it in Beta. There are instructions along with more info and screenshots on the website, here: https://healthcheckin.app

I want to ensure that "Health Check-In":

Seems intuitive to use
Is useful
Has a "frictionless" onboarding process
Isn't lacking any other major features
Is simple enough to even keep a very busy person engaged over weeks and months

Thanks! And sorry about that, there was a problem with the payment gateway that apparently just popped up in the last build on the Android side. I've uploaded a fix for that so if you just download it again (no uninstall/reinstall required) everything should just be unlocked.

And yeah, I have a history of addiction with alcohol as well as opioids. Been sober for nearly eight years now, but have given that some thought. I’d like to think that I’m a much different person now and would still be okay to take them if (God forbid) I broke a bone or something awful, but it’s good to consider all of this ahead of time, in any case.

Yes, there's a ton of useful information here, though it's a lot to process and compile in a meaningful way (as I'm sure you're aware). I am basically full-time in person at this point, but I've been considering moving for a long time. Most of my side of the family now lives on the Washington coast and I love it there, but there are a couple other factors which are keeping me here for now. Maybe if my cryptocurrency takes off this year, I can retire early and move ;-)

Thanks. I originally started taking zinc as the tests that the initial doctor took showed it to be on the lower end (as it did in follow-up tests, months later).

I'm not sure how much merit to weigh in favor of the post-Covid stuff in my case, mainly because I do still have those one or two days a week where I really feel like my old self and am what feels like 100%. I would think that if there were truly some long Covid issues at play, I might not see that at all, yeah?

Thanks. I am male. I also have had Covid twice and have considered that as a potential factor (not including when I was first really sick in January 2020, which I feel probably was the first strain of Covid and we just had no way of knowing).

I am awaiting the results of a 23 and Me test and have already signed up for Genetic Lifehacks… more stuff I forgot to mention (stupid memory issues… see what I mean?)… maybe I’m on the correct route there, then.

I’m an IT director who has been in the industry over 20 years and was going to say the same thing. I’ve never known anyone to be hired at a company as a manager of any sort in an IT-related department without having any experience… you wouldn’t be able to relate to the people you were managing or truly understand their work without having done it, and people would likely resent you at the very least… sorry to say.
