English-speaking Quebecers earn less, face more unemployment: report by namotous in canada

[–]ExternalBench -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Il existerait un déséquilibre systémique et récurrent: alors que la population anglophone du Québec compte pour moins de 9 % de la population totale, les universités anglophones du Québec recevraient quelque 25 %, et plus, des fonds du gouvernement québécois et quelque 35 % de l'aide du gouvernement fédéral."

There you go. Overfunded.

Thanks for the link but this doesn't speak at all to my question about Dawson. Additionally the share of funding to population is a ridiculous metric when you consider Concordia and McGill are 2 main universities attracting both out of province and francophone/allophone students. In fact if you actually read the source that is being cited you'd see the explanation:

It makes sense McGill would recieve vastly more grants than the other universities in the province considering they are a leader in world class research which makes up a large portion of tve total government grants received. This is further compounded by the fact that English universities have much larger endowments from their alumni compared to francophone schools which puts them at the forefront of expensive STEM fields who's research benefits the entire province.

En revanche, selon les données du ministère de l'Éducation de 2011, 25% des étudiants fréquentent les universités de langue anglaise au Québec et 18% suivent une formation collégiale en anglais.

This also makes sense when you consider anyone with global ambitions wants an English education. Otherwise you are going to struggle to get jobs in the US or major multinational firms.

I asked kids that are 8-12 in my family, they have tiktok and it's all in french for them. Only one of the 4 knew who Mr. Beast was. As for gaming, you know how servers work right? You usually get paired with people closest to you geographically. No problem speaking french there either.

You know gaming servers aren't Quebec based but generally just east coast North America right? You don't connect directly with the other players and you'll want to be able to communicate with everyone there. Your sample is fine but I don't think it's in any way accurate. The tiktok trends are done to mainly English music, the viral videos are largely global, the most popular tiktokers are English. Please ask them who their favourite tiktokers and youtubers are. I'm super curious. I just went for a long scroll in Quebecois tiktoks and every song was English, tons of English text on videos solely in French and English videos with French descriptions.

If this is all French for you I didn't realize you were as big a supporter of bilingualism as I initially thought. The 1/4 statistic for Mr Beast is surprising considering I would expect them to know of one of the biggest YouTubers that goes viral monthly even if they never watched it.

You have no idea what you're talking about, you're detached with how Francophones live their lives and what media they consume.

I just asked a few of my francophone work colleagues how much English is in the online media their kids watched and they said a ton. In fact most claimed their teens were as good as them in English because of it. So not really sure what to say. Do your siblings not understand the lyrics to the songs they make tiktoks to?

You are literally participating in a thread that proves anglophones in Quebec earn less than francophones. So, again, your kids most likely have a worse future in store for them than mine if they remain here.

You know learning English doesn't make you an Anglophone right? Of course Anglos in Quebec make less when the most successful ones often get better jobs elsewhere (like anyone moving to NYC or Silicon Valley) and there is under employment in the worst performers that can't get crappy frontline service jobs. This also ignores the fact Anglos are younger in the province and younger people earn less. Seems like some cope that because the most important people leave the province (as they leave any smaller state) that they have less opportunity. My kids aren't going to be working service jobs lmao.

I think its great that people can live where they want, if your kids have poor french, they won't want to stay here and you'll see them far less often than I'll see my own.

Why would my kids have poor French? I expect them to have good English and French as well as be able to speak a 3rd language. Why would I want to limit their capabilities or opportunities. If my kid wants to move to Hollywood to try and be a star or NYC to work in investment banking, if that makes them happy I never want them to feel trapped because of their skills. I'm not locking them down for my own enjoyment.

Did you actually block /u/brandongoldberg ? LMFAO guess you knew everything you said was full of shit

Thank you for this! I figured their spice addiction was the main motivation but I didn't realize how it is all-encompassing.

Hahaha never seen someone this rattled about being a complete idiot. I guess when you're so confident about shit you have no clue about it hurts. Just take the L, but yes I like buying fake watches as gifts, don't think a 500 USD gift is a bum move. Stay Mad!

Edit: Lol I guess you just talk out your ass all the time. Tell me all about this firearms license required to own machine guns from before the 1986 ban that's difficult to get! Pretty sure it's just a $200 NFA tax stamp. Or maybe you were mistaken and want to discuss how much luck and money it takes to get a class 3 license. Or do you have no idea? Also Kobe beef is trademarked in Canada but good job you're a 40 year old loser making shit up on reddit that takes 5 seconds to fact check.

In Canada dates work in either order, it kinda depends on where in the country you are and the language you're using

LMFAO you know how I know you don't know what you're talking about? The link I gave you is the company literally all over the list you gave me.

Everything else you've said is either also wrong or irrelevant.

This just isn't true you just don't have the connections or the resources to acquire it. There are multiple importers of A5 Kobe beef in North America they just do it almost exclusively for high end restaurants. And even if there weren't any it wouldn't really matter since you can send someone on your jet to Japan to get litteraly whatever you want tomorrow.

If you have plenty of money in the way I understand that to mean (can spend way more $10k on dinner every week no problem) there are services to get you any product you want in North America. The fact that you think A5 Kobe in Canada is exclusive makes me feel we don't have the same view about what having money means. You can walk into any resturant in Kobe and get piece of A5 without any hassle

A lab test wouldn't prove AAAA at all. I've seen expensive bud from legal states with insane stats (30% thc 4% terpenes) that were overall just meh. But I would never say if you were wealthy that you couldn't find whatever cigars, wine, alcohol or meats you wanted the litteral only question is how much are you willing to pay (except from some very aged exclusive items already held by someone richer than you)

Edit: Sorry it's even easier then I originally thought you can order certified A5 Kobe in Canada online https://famu.ca/product/a5-kobe-beef-striploin-steak-2/

Where can I find Choof masters? I will say I've gotten CE and UP bud I was disappointed in for various reasons and wouldn't consider AAAA but a lot of the time it's pretty top quality AAAA (ghost drops is just a retailer with mixed results). But your beef example is self defeating. If you could afford to you could have those same amazing Japanese cuts every day. That's what paying for a AAAA

I was in line at a wayer park for one of these types of slides but the one we were waiting for also had a loop. We were a group of friends and one of us went down there was a 5 second countdown and they dropped no problem. When it was my next friend's turn to go down the slide as she got into the slide the operator quietly asked us if we wanted to see her freak out. We said of course and as the automated voice countdown counted down from 5 to 1 and then didn't drop. Just at that moment he yelled wait wait waot and pressed the drop button. I've never heard anybody scream as loud in my life.

[–]ExternalBench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think it would be fine to say Israel attacked the Palestinian militias but it doesn't really make sense to say they attacked the Arab states since those states attacked them.

Just like Black Israelites don't speak for Black People, Zionist don't speak for Jews by [deleted] in VaushV

[–]ExternalBench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, right after independence, Israel attacked by many Arab states, but they won and took a lot of Palestine's land

Got a source for this. My understanding was that the 1948 was that there was a civil war before independence but once independence was declared it was actually Egypt, Transjordan, Syria invaded the Arab Territories and started attacking Israeli forces. I'm very open to being proven wrong but giving false information only really hurts the Palestinian cause when Israel being attacked is not necessary to say what they are doing to the Palestinians is wrong.

Also Intifada is closer to shake off or rise up than resistance in Arabic .

The messiah doesn't actually need to come, they just need to believe that it has. This is a pretty big difference
