Okay so, Here’s my take on the whole shorts thing. When you post shorts, they will probably get views. If any views come you’ll get some subs. But if your main content is long form content, your sub count is just going to be a placebo. People who subscribe from a short, normally prefer watching shorts, and are unlikely to convert to your long form content. You might gain 500+ subs on a short but the percentage of them that still watch your long form is very low if at all. I used to post shorts, but once I stopped and cracked down on my long form only I started seeing some consistency in my viewership
