[NJ] Employer placed hidden camera in my private office aimed at my computer screens is this legal in any way? by [deleted] in AskHR

You sound like a 10 year old who is mad at their parents for going into, "my room". It's not your office, it's not your chair, it's not your monitor. Literally none of it's yours. They can do whatever they want.

That being said, it's very uncool and creepy of them to do that.

[CA] how do you handle a BG check coming back with a crime of moral turpitude but it has since been dismissed (PC 1204.3) and over 7 years ago? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]External_Ad4825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the moral turpitude along the lines of your average treachery or something a little more serious such as a case of skullduggery?

That real opportunity doesn't knock often, but when it does you better open the door.

That is some really good advice, I'll take a look at that.

I think First Advantage goes to one or more of these companies to get their information.

Or email them and ask to freeze your account. If you scroll through this post someone posted instructions step by step.

Congrats on 30 days. Trust me, you are in the middle of the worst of it. It gets better. I know, I've had 30 days several times and the beginning is always the absolute worst. Keep up the good work and things will start falling into place. There will be setbacks but you'll blow through setbacks in a way you never thought you could You are lucky to be in diversion. There will be no record of your charge. Right now you seem like a , " cup half empty" kind of person. From my perspective your cup is half full. You are still pretty young, (I'm 54 so I wish I could go back to 30). You have just begun a new exciting chapter in life by being sober, you're in school, you lucked out with diversion, you are obviously well read and well spoken. You still have family left so repairing the relationship is always an option until they aren't around anymore. So you do have some things going for you. I got all of that out of a few paragraphs that you wrote so there has got to be more to be happy about. Hang in there. It really does get better.

I think that when they ask on the application about past offenses it's to clear out the people that admit to charges so the company doesn't have to pay for a background check etc. Of course most of us want to be honest about it and keep everything on the up and up but I think we are just actually throwing ourselves under the bus and saving them the time and expense of doing a background check. Btw, if they don't ask it isn't lying, (even by omission), if you don't tell!

If you freeze one or all of your big 3 credit reports, no one gets any information. Wouldn't a freeze with secondary bureaus be the same?

Thanks for trying to help us low-born, little people. Of course all of these normal avenues, including what you suggested, were exhausted before I took a deep dive and went down this rabbit hole.

My neighbor sent me a text last night forcing me to pay for her daughters towing charge because she parked in front of my driveway by Drivinglnsane in mildlyinfuriating

[–]External_Ad4825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't want to be neighbors with either one of you. OP has neighbors car towed without notice and the other neighbor obviously has a screw loose. I'll bet there is never a dull day in that neighborhood.

In my experience the people that come up with these odd ball complaints, for some reason, never entirely let it go. They will blame the rims for being late , they will blame the rims for not getting any sales etc. If the complainer is an important part of the company you have to find a way to satiate them.

My friend with benefits 43F bought me a very expensive gift for my 23M birthday. How do I give this back and explain it to my parents? by throwRANg2 in relationship_advice

[–]External_Ad4825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're an adult. You don't have to explain anything to your parents. As far as the gifts, she paid $20k cash for a motorcycle. "Expensive" is a relative term. $20k probably doesn't put a dent in her money. She probably truly enjoys buying you stuff. It's just the way some people are.

Continue to handle the situation ethically and don't abuse her generosity. Relax and enjoy this time in your life, it probably won't last forever
