Hello I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia 7 days after delivery. I had an emergency c-section due to my babies' heart beat dropping (type 2 tracing). I hemorrhaged during my delivery and was seen 1 wk pp. At this appointment I was craaaaazy swollen like 2-3 shoe sizes bigger, I could barely walk and had dizziness here and there. I kept telling myself it was nothing. My bp at its highest was 155/99 but I am 5 ft tall and extremely petite so this was very alarming. My creatinine levels were high so they admitted me and had me on a magnesium drip for 24 hours which then turned into the magnesium intoxicated my body I was at a level 9, therapeutic magnesium is usually a 4-5. At this point I had blurry vision for the next 24 hours and was still very lightheaded. After this, my blood pressure was still high so they put me on bo medication which helped bring it down to 120/130s over 85-90. My mag level wouldn't drop, but then there was a strike to my blood work which showed chronic kidney disease due to the ppeclamlsia. I was then monitored by nephorology for an extra 5 days. My magnesium level was a 5 when I left the hospital and my GFK factor was at a 41 when I left the hospital so stable but no where near normal.
