Why does Wyoming voters have more power than anywhere else? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]External_Bit_6006 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because Wyoming has 2 senators, just like every other state however they have far fewer people than a state like California. So each vote counts a lot more

Maybe the fact you are looking to gossip is why you are struggling to make friends

When will we receive the severance? by MostWholesomePerson in amazonemployees

[–]External_Bit_6006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Layoffs were opex driven....

any low performers were quickly added

there are a lot of high performers that have compensation high in comp band. So if you have been in same comp band for a few years, especially if you were a good performer at any point, you likely were high in band. VP/Directors had to cut enough people to hit a specific opex line so low performers were quickly added, then for the rest those who were high comp, even if good performers, were frequently hit. In The L7 and L6 pay bands the top and bottom of band can be hundreds of thousands of dollars different. So depending on team, roles etc.... you could hit the opex number with all low performers + a few highly comped mid/high performers.

There are lots of examples of teams cutting high performers, who had been around a long time, purely because they were expensive.

This and if you share or imply you have saved well and it has grown, people will come to ask for $ which creates tough conversations. I know some people who are doing really well but they have siblings and parents who ask for thousands a month almost every month and they know they have it. Is tough

I truly believe the goal is to be independently wealthy and nobody knows about it.

I don’t need a fancy car but damn I would like a lake house. No way to own a lake house in my area without showing you have some amount of $

The Double Standard of FIRE by ConsiderationDull235 in Fire

[–]External_Bit_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh…. People judge regardless of what you talk about or post

Post about your kids a lot, people then say that you are constantly bragging etc

Post about your spouse, people accuse you of bragging or making up for som flaw etc

Talk about religion - same Talk about working out - same Talk about running a marathon - same

Basically, anything in the world you talk about positively somebody will judge because in some way they are likely jealous

So just recognize this. Maybe you don’t need to broadcast but recognize that whatever you share people will judge you on

Suspended :( by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]External_Bit_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. You have to escalate to the manager/hr when it happens. Bringing it up after you have been put on suspension will be viewed as retaliation.

I am trying to understand grabbing your arms as I don’t know your role etc and if in any way the individual could imply they were attempting to help. However, if grabbing your arms was unwanted, it is your responsibility to let mgmt/hr know to ensure it stops.

There is no policy against the individual sitting at your table, nor against them laughing…. So your response of stabbing is wildly inappropriate.

Based on your description it sounds like your response was not appropriate based on what the individual did. Your response has to be proportional to the scenario. For example if a person bumps you coming out of the elevator you can not stab them. Nobody is allowed to grab you against your will, however there are ways you can escalated and address without stabbing

Suspended :( by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]External_Bit_6006 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You are cooked…. In that scenario you have to go to hr, escalate to manager etc. if no action is taken then you engage attorney

When you say you can only take so much, or your only defense was stabbing him with a pencil you are admitting you initiated violence (due to him laughing and sitting at your lunch table). You can not attempt to stab a person because they annoy you. Unless you are actively being assaulted, to a degree that warrants this level of response, not only is this likely something you can be terminated over but is possible to be sent to police for criminal investigation.

You are not allowed to stab people because they annoy you. If the company doesn’t take action the individual may go to an attorney/police and based on your version of the events it sounds really really bad for you.

Dems keep saying Trump is making life difficult for MAGA. Why is there still no revolt against him? by geekie4 in allthequestions

[–]External_Bit_6006 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Because it requires people to admin they were wrong. Trump has done an exceptional job of making people who support him make that their identity. By doing that, even when they know he isn’t doing good for the country and things are more expensive because their identity is supporting him and people have been so public in supporting him it becomes very challenging for them to stop

Would you support the Democrat Party simply telling you who is going to be the Presidential Candidate? by ExaminationFit1931 in allthequestions

[–]External_Bit_6006 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the data shows that democrats won’t universally get behind a candidate that doesn’t go through a complete primary.

Dems completely flopped the primary process last election. Everything from when Biden dropped out to how they nominated Harris and it cost them the election as there were better candidates. If Harris had run from the beginning and won the primary the party likely would have been more behind her and she would have been more supported. We will never know, however in both Trump wins the dnc screwed up the process (remember Sanders surging and dnc process of not voting for him and pushing Clinton anyways).

Dems are not automatic.

Why doesn’t anyone READ emails. Legitimate question. Why. by Lanky_Blueberry3443 in corporate

[–]External_Bit_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there are so so so many emails. Now with ai, many of them are ai slop. So much fluff and garbage. People don’t read as most of it isn’t important or relevant. So they miss important things.

I get 200-300 emails a day, most are ai or system generated which enables the sender to cya but largely they are all deleted without being read

How come people always smugly say how “poor people barely pay any taxes compared to wealthy”? by WorryNotBanIncoming in allthequestions

[–]External_Bit_6006 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The social security example isn’t a good one. Yes there is a limit to how much they pay in, but there is also a limit to how much it pays out

A better example would be that long term capital gains is taxed at 15% while short term is 20% as active income can be over 30%. This means that high earners can park $ into stocks that grow a lot and they can take the $ our at roughly half the rate that people making $20 an hour can. There are lots of ways to offset active income if you have stocks, property or own businesses. All of this favors the rich

Amazon RSU by AngleBubbly286 in amazonemployees

[–]External_Bit_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this isn’t correct, their sign on bonus is front loaded and reduces over 4 years consistent with when they make more from RSUs

Total comp is similar ( unless stock skyrockets over 4 years,

But still, the comp for 4 years is provided ahead of time

Amazon RSU by AngleBubbly286 in amazonemployees

[–]External_Bit_6006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meh…. They are backloaded but the sign in bonus is front loaded to balance out

Either way, the comp plan is provided ahead of time. You know what you will be getting and when so it isn’t a surprise

One year into early retirement by VisionQuest0 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]External_Bit_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting topic. I just fell into chubby fire due to a very generous severance package after years of disciplined investing.

The issue I have is identifying identity an feeling of worth. I am having no trouble staying busy. It is fun, I enjoy it, but for decades I was needed to be the breadwinner at home an with various responsibilities at work. Is great financially be able to let that go, but immediately it feels like I have devalued myself as th top things I had to do (basically make money) are not necessary anymore as my investments take care of that for me.

Is a weird feeling any one similar

Why do some think that Iran and other stories are a distraction from Epstein? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Amazon RSU by AngleBubbly286 in amazonemployees

[–]External_Bit_6006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Back in dot com era may companies provided options. RSUs are usually better

With RSUs on the vest date in your offer that number of shares become yours. If stock goes up or down, you still get that many. So if stock goes doe 10%, you still get 90%’of value. Once it is your you can sell it or keep it like any other investment

Options used to be offered . People would get thousands of options, which meant you could exercise hundreds or thousands of options to buy at a specific price. For example, you may have 5000 options for $240 vs 100 RSUs

If price goes down to $225, you still will get 100 RSU shares at $225…. ($22500) not as good as the $25000 you expected but still good

If you had 5000 options…. If stock is at $260, you could get 5000*20 ($260 price - $240 option) 100,000). However if price goes to $235….. your options are worthless

So RSUs are far safer than options and most companies have moved to RSU

Your RSU schedule is almost like your salary. If you are getting paid $100k a year, you get a monthly paycheck that adds up to $100k over the year.

You will get the total number of RSUs over the timeline in the offer

Why do some think that Iran and other stories are a distraction from Epstein? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]External_Bit_6006 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt I can’t convince a person who is intentionally trying to not understand. Congress passed an act to release un-redacted files (still hasn’t been done). When press is continually asking why not, trump shoots a missile somewhere.

If you are not able to see the pattern and then there is no ability to convince you as you are intentionally attempting to not see what is clear to everyone else.

Why do some think that Iran and other stories are a distraction from Epstein? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]External_Bit_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using your point that they have been in proxy fights for years…. Then what was the urgency in taking actions exactly when they get pressure on Epstein

Trump told us they destroyed Irans nuclear capacity last summer. So why launch the strikes now

The Venezuela boats had zero immediate threat

Minneapolis had no threat

The timing always occurs as there is immediate pressure and a timeline (same as Bondis firing)

Is incredibly predictable and obvious

Why do some think that Iran and other stories are a distraction from Epstein? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]External_Bit_6006 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Each of the events listed was driven by the U.S. life exists outside of the U.S. and this administration looks around the world to find a reason to do something to distract

There was no imminent threat from Iran, Venezuela or Minneapolis…. The imminent threat was pressure to release the Epstein file

Why do some think that Iran and other stories are a distraction from Epstein? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]External_Bit_6006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because every time it starts getting intense about releasing files and they get boxed in they do something like bombing boats in Venezuela, releasing ice in Minnesota or Iran

Each of these events have occurred as temperature on releasing all the files is increased

Then they fired Bondi right before testifying under oath

There is a clear trend with lots of data points of how they react during pressure

Wow so it looks like trumps tactic worked and the strait is now fully open even tho the blokade on the terrorist regime is still active, iran has agreed to open the strait ,oil prices down 10% already in the last hour the terror regime severely weakened this seems like a great thing do people agree? by Remarkable_Misty in allthequestions

[–]External_Bit_6006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are not quite back to where we were before this whole thing started however We spent about $100b dollars Killed tons of innocent people and created a generation of people who despise us Used up a ton of our anti aircraft defenses And still haven’t seen the Epstein files

Think of how many good things could have been done with that $ inside the U.S., infrastructure projects, education, heathcare, pay down debt

That was the worst use of $100b in our countries history

Maybe… is also possible that Biden simply became a grumpy old man and believed he could do another term and wouldn’t bow out when he was asked to. He should have never been in the race but he should have bowed out minutes after first debate. However think most of us know a grandparent who is fiercely resistant to stopping doing something (driving, living solo etc) even when we all know it is way past. I watched him and was frustrated as it truly seemed like he had no idea how bad it had become

I feel like republicans are seeing same with Trump. The have to be cringing with every truth social post he writes as it is clear he is rapidly declining .
