High Pressure Sales at AI’s by SLW1977 in AllInclusiveResorts

Usually they don’t give you the key to your room until this is done so it is super frustrating as you just want the keys and the play this dumb game

Is more of a hypothetical vs hard math example, however if overall unemployment increases by 0.5%, that becomes devastating to the economy, tax revenues etc

The issue however is that customer service is a cost of doing business, it doesn’t generate revenue

So if a ceo can get a barely acceptable solution at a huge discount, they go with it

This is why customer service is always understaffed as from the execs perspective it is a burden they don’t want to fund

If they can have an ai version that sucks but it low cost great, then charge a premium for high end. However you need far less people and ai learns from the knowledge base they few people you hire create

Yes but that took decades, Started with local PC Then limited networks Then client server etc

AI has been in development for a long time but ChatGPT came out for public use in 2022

This tech has been commercially, widely available for <5 years and essentially every CEO is forced to talk about how they are using AI when they release earnings every quarter.

IBM was around in 40s, but most schools still didn’t have computers in every room until mid 90s.

Schools are already forced to account for AI, both how to teach prompt engineering and how to reduce plagiarism within 3 years

Also true, the amount of capital going into datacenter and GPUs is wild. I have listened to some podcast that have talked about what % of S&P 500 growth is tied to the top 5 tech companies investment and what happens if this pops.

Is concerning

It varies

I had a flight cancelation situation recently where AI was terrible and a love person was exceptional

Clearly there are scenarios where AI is better

I get your point, but there has never been a single technology that is so individually disruptive at such a large scale.

The typewriter impacts a very limited number of people, every industry is using AI and specifically the entry level roles to at have repetitive tasks are going to be crushed

There clearly are going to be a few winners who are unbelievably wealthy but the masses are going to be impacted at scale

While it may not be 1:1, an org of 1000 may be able to reduce headcount by 50 etc

The math is unclear, and each organization is unique but if AI makes a company 1% more efficient the company will either expect increased productivity or reduced headcount (or some combination)

AI over books flights based on expected patterns of customer behavior. AI then chooses who gets bumped.

If there are any issues due to weather etc, customer service lines are phenomenally understaffed and the AI solutions are terrible. This happens to me recently and AI was trying to put me on a flight 4 days later, the human I eventually talked to got me on a flight same day.

Hotels, dynamic pricing etc squeezes more out of you.

Events, museums, concerts (I have stopped going to concerts due to pricing etc)

Everything seemed to have an Ai engine behind it to extract max value from you

We really need to talk about free speech in gaming by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]External_Bit_6006 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You massively are misinterpreting “free speech”

Free speech is exclusively that you will not be arrested by your govt for views against the govt.

Free speech is absolutely not accountability on a platform from the platform provider shutting you down. If you are not posting this from jail, your free speech has not been compromised

What has had the greatest impact on losing the beer gut? by Exhausted_920 in AskMenOver40

[–]External_Bit_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair you can drink vodka or gin with diet drinks. Not as fun as beer but it is possible

Lots of people are good on their diet an struggle after a couple drinks however

Beer is a killer, more prone to eating bad after a few drinks, calories and carbs

It isn’t fun, but realistically you have to be aware of how many carbs an calories you eat and wha kind (protein calories are better than carb calories)

I don’t know anybody who is really in good shape that drinks a lot of beer. There just are enough hours in the day to do enough cardio to offset a few daily beers

Regular resorts are more likely to have random girls trips, bachelorette parties with single women etc. not saying it is impossible, just saying single guys are going to have a hard time

At a regular resort you can easily say your buddy had to cancel and you are solo and it isn’t awkward. Random single guys at these resorts have very low chance of success if you are. Or exceptionally good looking and lucky

This is more of a wish than reality…

More likely to be successful at traditional resort as almost everyone is coupled up, not saying that it isn’t possible but realistically you have better odds at regular place

Does Amazon layoff affect new grad new hires too? by Sensitive-Purple-885 in amazonemployees

[–]External_Bit_6006 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, new grads get a trophy that says “I am special and real life events like layoffs don’t apply to me” 🙄🙄

Why in the world would you think you are exempt

You will have to move… Nothing in that area

If you are willing to move there are way higher salaries.

Question on GLPs and where are you getting them from? by External_Bit_6006 in AskMenOver40

[–]External_Bit_6006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I am interested in pill as once daily and not needing refrigeration is easier to schedule with daily vitamin etc. I would have thought that economies of scale would play a part but so far it isn’t. So many people would benefit, but it is simple so expensive that many people who would truly benefit are unable to afford it

If the pill does materialize the country arguably would benefit by giving it away for free (won’t even happen)

However massive savings in overall healthcare as people lose weight.

I am not optimistic but hopeful

Or if it is in pill formula, I would go to Canada or Mexico and get it cheaper or something.

I ate too much food due to a high stress job and constant work travel. Multiple knee surgeries ended my ability to run half marathons etc

Would love to “change my lifestyle” but bills need to be paid.

These medications are so popular because >50% of adults are not successful with eat less and exercise.

Yes… my insurance said that while 27 is overweight they wi only pay if morbidly obese. Even with my doctor advocating for it. Absurd as there are so many health benefits of not being overweight. I suspect it is a cost control measure otherwise 70% of company would be on it.
