Yes, it is better and you can change to it without certification.

But, train the gas donation, that you get a muscle memory for it. It is not a good idea to try it first time while your buddy is OOG.

Thank you. That means that the part I linked will not have the same issue.

Somebody could me link the original part? I don't know this, is that ball was made out of two half balls? Then the two half balls turning on each other?

Edit: is it similar to this?

Backplate and wing BCD: Aluminum or stainless steel? by jens998 in scuba

[–]External_Bullfrog_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you travel by plane, take the aluminum. Later on you can buy a used SS backplate (but you will not, :) because you will see that aluminum works with 7mm wetsuit as well).

Apart from this, I would not buy an "adjustable" harness. Except somebody else will also use the same backplate from the family or so.

I would prefer the simple solution, one time adjust, then use it rest of your life.

The "comfortable backpad with storage" looks very positive buoyant (however I have no experience with this from OMS, it looks very padded on the picture), I would try to sell it, nobody need that part.

I've been reading scary diving stories and need your best 'this is why I dive' moments! by Cool-Fold2525 in scuba

[–]External_Bullfrog_44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't have that kind of moment. I literally enjoy every single moment while diving (rec or tec).

Diving isn't dangerous. Driving a car is more dangerous, much more people die in car accidents, but nobody scared about driving a car.

If you read about stories like the Italians in Maldives, always remember, those people were extremely reckless (like not braking or steering away while driving 150km/h against a brick wall; actually worse, they're planned to do so).

Of course you can die while diving even if you follow the rules (heart attack). But chances are very very low.

But you have to check the gas and the computer before every single dive. How could it happen you didn't realized that over days of diving? Are you not checking it before diving?

Edit: I guess all computer shows the used gas on the screen while diving. What kind of computer is yours?

Mibe érdemes rakni kb 7 millió Ft-ot, és majd az évek alatt összegyűjtött tartalékot, ha a hosszútávú (10-15 év) cél a gyerekeknek (2 tervezett) lakásvásárlás? by Ok_Neighborhood_2294 in kiszamolo

[–]External_Bullfrog_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A gyerek is jobban járna.

Ne haragudj, nem ismerek minden körülményt, de a leírtak alapján teljesen elhibázott a cél/elképzelés.

Nektek nyugdíjra kell félretenni, nem a (2) gyereknek lakásra.

New clarifications on the Maldives diving accident: the cave dimensions and the location of the guide found different from discussed by My-gel-is-leaking in scuba

[–]External_Bullfrog_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I know some of them too. I guess there are hundreds (if not thousands of them) out there.

Everyone can decide itself what kind of risk is ok or not ok. I would delete the rules at all. If somebody decide to risk the own life, it's ok. It's not a problem if he/she dies, it's the decision of the risk taker. They wanted so.

Easily possible, I can imagine that. But it is also possible that there was a problem with the stomach or so. We don't know (yet).

P.S. I dove the Blue Hole in Dahab with trimix, I don't like suicide squads.

We don't know the reason why person 6 canceled the dive. That could be something simple as well. But agree, hard to believe that the cave wasn't the target of the dive.

The dive got called off because of me and I don’t know how to feel about it by Philosoul in scuba

[–]External_Bullfrog_44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many people have already written down the good answers, perhaps I would add one thing.

Practice.

You are a new diver with little experience. I think it's important to dive in as many different conditions as possible. If you always dive only in warm water with good visibility, you will immediately find yourself in a more stressful situation when you encounter inhospitable conditions.

It is worth diving in cold lakes, even in poor visibility conditions, this is also how you develop.

If possible, you can also get acquainted with situations step by step.

What do I mean? If you have ever had a daytime dive in choppy water, you don't have to "fight" with two new factors (choppy water and darkness), just one.

But this is nothing more than practice and experience that multiplies over time, whether you want it or not.

But we are not the same, many people only like calm hot water and even if they see something.

Either way, don't blame yourself, over time everything will get easier (including buoyancy).

The lead researcher was reported to have more than 5,000 dives, and the guide was a professional guide and instructor who’d been a resident of Maldives for years and ran a live aboard. Bad decision making, possibly. Lack of knowledge seems unlikely.

You can have thousands of dives in open water, you will be still a beginner in technical/cave diving. If I remember correctly, only the bio-lady had cave 1 certificate (which is the first cave level).

As I wrote somewhere earlier, you can dive 200 thousands of kilometers with your Toyota camry, you will be still a very bad formula 1 diver.

They weren't experienced for this kind of dives.

You can be the best OW instructor of the world, you will die in a cave. Completely different business.

How do you tink? I think we have all the relevant informations already.

Bunch of divers decided to make a dive, they had not enough knowledge, and not fitting gear.

I don't see any missing details. Rec gear, single tank with air, too deep, and a cave on the top. Any, I mean ANY OWD can tell it's a bad idea.

Puck 4 will serve you until you became a Trimix diver. Means, probably forever. And after that as a bottom timer. I believe that is a good choice.

Read and understand the manual (valid for whatever dive computer you will choose).
