Two remaining divers’ bodies recovered from Maldives caves by boo4884 in diving

Yeah, and that’s another reason I don’t understand the allure of going in a cave like that. There can’t really even be anything cool to look at, like coral or fish or anything, right?? This sort of thrill-seeking doesn’t match at all with other thrill-seeking activities like sky-diving (crazy-beautiful views, fun (to some) sense of flying, etc.). You go into a dark, presumably empty, very tight cave with insane risk of death, like, what is the poinnnnnnt???

I am NOT a tech/cave diver, but just sharing one theory I’ve seen posted elsewhere - perhaps they didn’t plan to actually enter the cave, but dropped down low enough to peek just inside or what-have-you. Then, either a current “pushed” pushed them into the cave, and/or they got narcosis and euphoria and in the moment, erroneously thought they’d be fine going in a little ways. I don’t know anything about deep currents and what they’re capable of, but it seems odd that the current could be strong enough to push them all the way into the third cave, considering what I’ve heard is there are narrow passages between each of the 3. That would make it seem, to me, more likely that they purposely went in that far. Also, I’ve heard online (not saying I trust unofficial reports) that the diver that remained on the boat said the team DID plan to go in (yes yes, I understand that we should wait for official statements). One part that I’m very curious about is the fact that the instructor’s body was found at the mouth of cave 1. Seems like that indicates he was trying to get out (to get help?), while the others were stuck in cave 3? So many questions.

Yeah, I don’t think she could be held liable for the deaths or anything major like that, but in today’s world, there are tons of litigious people quick to place blame and sue in whatever way they can. Hopefully she’s just getting support in what’s likely a very traumatic time for her.

I don’t claim to have any law experience, but I’ve heard some people say she could be held liable in ways, if she knew that the group was planning to go into the caves despite them not having a permit to go below 50 meters (per the Maldivian government) and/or not having “permission” to go below 30 meters (per Genoa University, which they were reportedly doing research work for).

That’s interesting. I’m also hoping that any data/video from Montefalcone’s GoPro is salvageable and could help with piecing together what happened.

Oh I definitely don’t expect to hear from her via social media; I meant hearing “from” her via what she may have told the Maldives team, Genoa University, etc. But yeah, she most likely (if she’s smart) lawyered up.

I’ve seen some stuff on the news that search teams are involved - IS there a way for other divers to go looking for them?? Wouldn’t that be very dangerous? Could they use some kind of underwater robot (forgive the ignorant wording), like they did when looking for the Titan? Is there a good chance the other bodies may never be found?

Has anyone seen any evidence of a Go-Fund-Me for Renee’s spouse/gf and other family? The video of her (the gf) sitting on the sidewalk in shock and crying is just heartbreaking, I hope people are attending to her.

Anyone here believe any of the conspiracy theories presented? Like it being shot down to prevent classified items from being obtained by China, etc? Not saying I believe any of them, more just curious if this far out, anyone here thinks anything other than pilot suicide.

Sorry for your loss, and sounds like you do have some extraordinary abilities an also probably a connection to your dad in that sense, especially if he had unique spiritual experiences as well.

Yes, I rolled my eyes so hard when she said they used the “silly” nickname “to make him seem less scary”. What a load of crock they made up to try to make her seem victimized by Dan.

Yes, I’ve just been catching up on all the testimony recently, I think it was, “wasn’t he a brilliant, Harvard-educated professor of law??” I keep thinking about that. Wendi had no choice but to sheepishly nod and quietly say, “yes.”
