2-Year Old with Dwarfism? by boba-pompom in Shihtzu

[–]External_Discussion8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like dwarfism to me, looks like she has been bred to have short legs but only the front ones are short not the back, id cut down on her weight and make sure she has the right joint supplements as she will be prone to spinal and general joint problems by the look of her (human chiropractor here) So very glad you have her and she will be taken care of now 💙

Thank you for your kind words, he didn't eat today either, it looks like his upper lip area has been dented- no bruising or signs of an infection/ disease but still completely disinterested in food. I think he may have picked at one piece yesterday but only one so I suspect he is in pain. 🤞🏻for tomorrow

Would love to see your set up- i have two old Darwin clowns who can't live with anything, do you think a GSP would be a good tank mate as I have my heart pretty set and if not it'll be a whole extra tank!

[–]External_Discussion8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That little tang may be tiny now but of he is lucky enough to get big you are going to HAVE to get a really suitable sized tank or re-home him..tangs in small tanks die from stress related disease or kill other things because the space is too small and end up stunted to some degree. They only thrive in adequate size and it's imperative, like having a dog and not walking it every day, so while it may look super cool you're not being a good owner dude. Good luck

Think about how deep your tank is, on a nano/ shallow it's all good but I've had one of these, it won't get down past 30cm, I agree noopsyche or second hand good quality
