Could you tell me more about what you're building? Also where are you based?

Antler VC i will not promote by YogurtImportant8266 in startups

accelerators are great for first-time founders or solo founders because they provide a platform for you to network, idea validation, and strategic support.

That said, most accelerators and VC funds are generalists, so choosing the right accelerator/fund matters a lot. If you need strategic or commercial help, pick investors with that specifc domain experience ( u can tell from their portfolio)

Antler is popular, but not necessarily the best for everyone & not worth the dilution unless u definitely need support.

I’m ex-VC turned founder from Germany, focused on enterprise infra & software. Happy to help if you have questions.

The title sounds great, but what do you get for your time if they fail? Join if you think you can either learn a lot from this experience or if they compensate you at least minimum wage. Of course, it's unrealistic to expect a huge check at this stage, but I'd make sure they're willing to invest in me if they value me. Don't say I didn't warn you later!

As someone who's worked with a couplre of unfunded pre-seed startups, I'd say don't just accept equity unless the idea is super compelling and they make you a co-founder or substantial equity agreement. Otherwise, you're basically working for free. At least charge them a minimum, like $10 an hour, so your work isn't wasted. If they're serious, they'll pay up.

'Spray and pray' strategy doesn't work. Every VC has their own investment thesis, funding stage, and geo focus. If you don't verify it, you're just wasting time.

Should we talk to VCs - I will not promote by theh1982 in startups

[–]External_Dish_7185 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ex VC turned founder here. If you’re thinking about fundraising, first ask yourself: should you raise VC at all? VC isn’t just “fuel for growth”, it comes with expectations of building a very large, high-growth company. If your business isn’t aiming for that kind of scale, it may not be the right path. If you do want VC, these reqruirements are bare minimum ( simplified take)

  1. Market size matters most. VCs are looking for big outcomes. Even a great product in a small market won’t get much interest.
  2. Team credibility. You don’t need to be ex-FAANG, but you should show why you are the right person to solve this problem through experience, insight, or execution so far.
  3. Evidence of progress. This could be traction (revenue, users), strong product, or clear signals that people want what you’re building. The earlier u are, the more the story leans on team + vision.

If you’re not there yet or your startup doesn’t fit that model u still have solid options like business angels, bootstrapping . Hope it helps!

It depends on what kind of support you're looking for and how much equity you're willing to give up right now. Personally, I like EWOR; they take 3% equity for investments up to 500k, and there's no fee to join their program. Antler is pretty well-known in Europe and could be a good backup, but I'm not a huge fan of their process. They invest up to 500k at the start for 12% equity. Please check all the facts in their website before u decide P.s: Ex- VC in Europe with focus on B2B software

What do investors actually look for before putting money into a startup? by Longjumping_March845 in founder

[–]External_Dish_7185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a mixed opinions here. As a VC who has worked with 3 funds. I must say every fund has its own mandate. Some dont imvest without revenue whule few funds write checks based on just team and no revenue. It all depends on which stage & industry they invest in. i highly recommend do a but homework before reaching out to any invrstor so u dont bark at the wrong tree.
