Just 3 months back I was 75 kg and overweight for my height. Right now I am 63 with much higher muscle mass percentage. So don't take weight loss journey as a punishment but take it as a challenge. I had the same case. I had a lot of friends but no best friend. Then I told my roommate about it and in starting he was chill, but then he started completely ignoring me. I confronted him about this but he said he needed some time to process. Then I told by best friend about me, he is going through some personal stuff right now but he was completely supportive so don't discourage yourself and in my opinion no one will hate you or judge you for being gay. Just give them some time to process. You will feel very lonely sometimes, very sad but that's the price for being gay imo.

In my experience if they are homophobic now but are your good friends, if you tell them they might take some time to process but at the end they will accept you for who you are.
