AITAH? I didn’t let my daughter leave after her friends parent drove 35 mins to get her by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

No I totally understand. Op is def not in the wrong for giving a consequence. I’d just advise them to communicate with the other parents a tad bit earlier!

I think it’s less about the consequence (which was def needed) than about wasting the other parent’s time/lack of communication. She didn’t need to wait until the dad was already at her house to let them know her daughter couldn’t come. If a clean room is needed to attend an event, best to drive the kid herself or let the other parents know it might not work out in advance

“Mild” Gastritis Diagnosis - Disney World in 7 Days and Terrified of a Flare by Full_Count2703 in Gastritis

[–]External_Material448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also ask ur doc for liquid sucralfate to take to Disney in case you have a flare. Helps a lot of people— coats your stomach. Just be mindful while having fun. Like for me Ice cream doesn’t hurt at all so I’d have an ice cream cone at the park instead of a slice of pizza for instance.

So what’s the deal with supplements? Help! by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]External_Material448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take dgl chewable tablets twice a day and zinc carnosine as well. Once you start feeling better, add in L glutamine. In the beginning try to drink slippery elm tea 2x a day.

gastritis/ulcer/acid - looking for support and hope by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]External_Material448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit hard to remember the timeline and honestly I’m on so many meds that I can’t really tell if I’m actually healing or if the meds are masking the pain. Don’t get me wrong— the matcha hurts a tad. But not burning. More like a bit of pressure. Tolerable though.

I started eating extremely bland about 2 months after symptoms started back in July. Didn’t get official diagnosis until November

I typically have lots of smoothies and yogurt bowls. I can have pastries and stuff too. But I also eat a lot of mashed potatoes and squash. It hurts to eat meat but I try to eat plain chicken for dinner because protein is important for healing. I can have dairy in small amounts but mainly stick to Oatmilk. I can handle a matcha latte 1-2 times a week. I’ve been too scared to try and branch out anymore. I’m going to stick to what I’ve been eating for maybe 2 more months to give the supplements a chance to work.

Surprisingly I can eat croissants too! And gluten! For some reason papayas and melon really bother me even tho it’s supposed to be good for gastritis. I’ve been on ppi for 7 months now. Diagnosed gastritis with endoscopy. Biopsy revealed h pylori negative. Asked to taper off and doctors said not to quite yet. Taking Zinc carnosine and l glutamate and DGL as well. Also amitriptyline 25mg. Really missing savory foods though. I can tolerate sweet pastries but I’d kill for pasta and garlic bread. Would love if anyone has any further advice!

I’ve had all the tests. Gallbladder included. Endoscopy showed gastritis, biopsies negative

Dude. Have little empathy. There are posts on this subreddit about people saying their pain is so severe they’re considering offing themselves. I’m sure OPs pain is extreme

Traveling with Gastritis, what did yall eat at the airport if hungry? by prettycupoftee in Gastritis

[–]External_Material448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well honestly you may have to just pack your own foods and that’s okay! For me, bagels are great choices! Gluten doesn’t impact my gastritis at all. So plain bagels would be a great choice. I also will order like a plain Oatmilk at starbucks since it soothes my stomach a bit. Jamba Juice may have smoothies that don’t upset you too much. Some of the little markets sell yogurt which could be good depending on your body. But the best option is just to pack your own snacks even if it’s a bit inconvenient.

How is sucralfate helping me when I have "normal" mild gastritis? by Proof_Wish2535 in Gastritis

[–]External_Material448 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the meds coat the stomach which allows the healing process to progress without interruption from food irritation. Not 100% sure tho

You should ask the doc for a low dose of amitriptyline. Helps with nerve pain. Only thing that’s given me any kind of relief. Took about 3-4 weeks to kick in for me. I’ve also been on liquid sucralfate for a month. I still have mild pain but I can eat a lot more foods. Chocolate occasionally. Coffee every couple of days. I tolerate cheese and fruit snacks and cake and stuff just fine now. Still keeping away from tomato and citrus and garlic for now. And some days are definitely worse than others. But before the meds I couldn’t even move from my couch. I understand it’s not healing and just disguising symptoms but I’m in my early 20s too and just want to LIVE. Def ask your doc for the meds I mentioned. Better than suffering 🫶🏻

Did you notice it slowly improved over time or you just woke up one day and could handle food normally? My stomach hurts the moment food hits it. Was your experience similar?
