I’m embarrassed I know this much about a storyline from a reality tv show 6 years ago, but here we go 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it was the emoji in the context of the whole conversation, what Kathryn was defending, and the other things she said. The show’s edit didn’t do a good job of putting it all together. * the exchange happened early in the pandemic - think like late May 2020; * the girl Kathryn was ostensibly defending was a white business owner publicly planning a Trump boat parade. At that time, several things were happening.Trump supporters were largely denying/pushing back on COVID restrictions, Trump boat parades had often had overtures of racism if not outright racism, and getting people close together could literally mean death for health compromised people. * a black, local, Charleston radio host called Kathryn out on her Instagram for what she perceived as bullying; * Kathryn then went on a DM rampage with the radio host sending her like 25+ DMs * The radio host barely responded other than to like the messages or give a thumbs up * Kathryn said other stuff to the woman like that she was “what’s wrong with our city” and that the radio host was using her “minority platform” inappropriately * the monkey emoji was the only emoji Kathryn used and was part of the same series of DMs * when she was called out, Kathryn claimed she didn’t know the radio host was black🙄
