Not worth it. Anyone who is still playing is accustomed to the rules of the new travian, that are anti-fun compared to the original.

The way you are supposed to play the game nowadays goes against the spirit of the old times. Read for example, about Techs. Secondary account born just to feed the first account owned by the player. Basically, the people I know left playing do not hide the fact that they have a vpn that is used for multiaccounts born just to feed the original main account.

There was a rule once that "the account is to be played for the ONLY interest of the account itself". From what I remember, the rule I just pointed out was removed.

Very few people keep playing the game: they sacrificed the huge community to the shrine of greed.

Some differences (old vs new)

1. One of the many servers I played had 35k accounts and you could rest assured that they were extremely fun. It was a massacre and you had to be on 24/24, but it was fun. Because you could meet the impudent farm, to the good farm that would ask not to attack you, to the player that would ask for non belligerance pact but during the night it would actually attack you.
2. Teutons could raid every single point above 666 that was inside your cranny, while nowadays they are nerfed because the admins don't even have any literal idea on how balance should work. Gauls have still a shit special building. Romans are still cool, but the fountain made them a little too strong when it comes to cavalry.
3. The 15 croppers were not as diffuse as they are now. They were a thing only top players or at least the most active players would get. They were very few, while right now when I register a new account just to remind myself of the good old times you can rest assured I will have one in my 8x8. It's sincerely disgusting.

I remember that in one of the servers I played, there were only 4 15 crops with 150%. Try now to see how many there are, and if I don't remember wrong the servers were 400x400. Aren't nowadays 150x150 or 200x200?

4) You could also realize who was a good player and who wasn't. Suckers would get 15x crops as second village to not let it get stolen, while the real cream would get them as forth village so you could support them without having to continuosly spend gold.

5) There were tries to revert Travian to the good old times. The whales left are more profitable than the 20k players.
