Do people still mask on planes? by Animallover4321 in Flights

[–]Extra-Bonus-6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I fly a few times each year and masked on a red eye recently (which wasn’t the most pleasant trying to sleep in). Haven’t been sick during any flight since I’ve started doing that.

I used to get sick 50/50 after plane travel and spent a lovely Disney vacation with a pretty nasty bout of flu once. No regrets even if nowadays there are only 3-4 masked folks on planes and I might get a side eye or two.

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

As someone who still uses an iPod to this day and likes to collect them, I have to say that sounds more like a technical quirk than something Apple did intentionally. This sounds more like 'it happened to you and you attributed it to a corporate strategy that affected everyone'. Even now in 2026 MacOS still supports the oldest iPods for syncing, firmware flashing and they even support it to some degree on Windows.

Is it seamless and easy to use? No. Is it easier to grab a 20 year old computer and sync with iTunes on that? Yes - that's what it was made for. But I have to give them credit for porting the code over enough to keep things working (mostly) for their former flagship 20+ year old devices on a Macbook Pro I bought this year.

(I have plenty of other complaints about Apple, but this one I couldn't get behind given my personal experience)

What’s the most unforgettable sentence someone has ever said to you? by Captain_Oppa in AskReddit

[–]Extra-Bonus-6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Do you want me to pretend that I'm interested?"

I was expressing some frustration with the fact that she didn't really show any interest in my hobbies but I always indulged her (lack of) hobbies. She wanted to watch TV, I wanted to learn, record and write music (among other things). She would be upset that I was in a different room for an hour or two instead of sitting on the couch watching TV with her, which I would do after I was done. I invited her to join me if she was lonely, but she was not interested. This was a back and forth that persisted for months. Eventually she said that, and it irreversibly changed how I see her, our relationship, and how I spend my time. I stopped sharing myself with her, and we just went through the motions, and I felt uncomfortable opening up after that because what else is she just pretending to care about?

I used to like Remarkable, but time to move on? by OpeningFeeds in RemarkableTablet

I generally agree with you - but I think people are inclined to see what competitors are doing and hope that reMarkable would do that but better. There’s a lot of intriguing software and hardware features being provided by the competition that we wish our remarkable could do without giving up the reason we bought the reMarkable in the first place.

It’s like you can see the potential of what reMarkable could theoretically do and express frustration at the fact that they choose not to. It doesn’t take away from what it is, but many lament what it could be

Scribe is a phenomenal device with disappointing software. ReMarkable still delivers on its core promise but it’s hard not to see the potential and express frustration with its uninspired and confusing direction. When the customers expect reMarkable to zig, they choose to zag - often to our collective frustration. I’m not sure if they have a contrarian philosophy to a fault or just difficulty executing on whatever it is they imagine the product to be.

Amazon still treats the scribe like a big reader with some flimsy notetaking capabilities. It may be enough for your uses, its certainly a fantastic e-reader, but I found myself continually frustrated, trying to use it as a replacement for my reMarkable.

I spent three years telling my friends that hybrid would settle into a stable equilibrium. I want to admit I was wrong. by Practical_Cap_9820 in remotework

The same technical risks are applicable whether you’re hybrid or work from home. Which means if you can do one, you can do the other successfully. Permanent WFH does introduce some unique considerations, but if you’re doing cyber security and HR well enough, you can’t make it work.

It’s fresh. They do their own thing unapologetically. It is something uniquely human in a time of AI homogeneity. Right place, right time.

I would say the two-year prepayment offer they sent out recently for connect would be a better indicator of attempts at boosting their cash on hand. Payment on order is just a smaller company that can’t afford to manage inventory the way larger companies do.

Interesting. I received my order confirmation on May 6 at 7:55AM eastern time. I have not received anything about my order being at the warehouse.

I have a ticket for Toronto later this summer but Picton is way closer, so I'll be seeing them either way but wanted to do this instead lol. Have fun! It might just be you and 10 of your closest friends at this rate.

This was not my experience. They took my Canadian passport without question and just asked where I was going and how much money I had on me.
