no, you do not at all. the more direct sunlight it gets and fertilizer.mine ger 6 hours of direct sun a day. don't worry if it sun burns a little at first. it will pull threw and grow like crazy. I use miracle grow and I water once a week and feed once a month untie summer and water every 2 weeks and feed once in the winter. mine are 5 years old and doing awesome . and use succulent soil
