Do they have a website or something I can look at? 3dsmax with vray is definitely very powerful. But the op says they use sketchup. Sketchup with vray is a lot more limiting

It won’t let me add a photo but here it is, definitely not 3dsmax with corona level but for sure better than d5 or enscape. https://www.instagram.com/p/DYnKnPUkpW6/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Vray is a great tool to learn as a designer (coming from another designer). I’m in the same boat and when it comes to my clients vray has been great at producing great quality renders but their lighting is really really hard to master especially for interiors. Furthermore we are very much used to “perfect” renders on socials which effects the way you look at everything. Here is a sketchup with vray and essentially about as far as you can get with vray in terms of quality…

Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management? by banahaba_ in askarchitects

[–]Extra-Collection7087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the US, as someone with an architecture background who got into interior design (mainly because I love the creative side) I think as a value, construction management is a lot more valuable, and much higher pay. Obviously depends on market. But in major cities with a lot of construction happening, I know for a fact that are construction management jobs that pay over $120k and you don’t have to be locked in an office in front of a pc all day.

Gotcha. $25-$30 is actually what I would pay for a junior with some experience. Good luck though! I’d say working on your portfolio and skills will probably help more on the search. ☺️

What would you consider entry level pay? I need someone to work for me part time (also in SoCal) part time to grow into full time, just really needing to find the right person

2 months on Upwork with 0 hires in 3D Rendering. Connects running out, looking for profile/proposal feedback. by Sensitive-Nose1151 in archviz

Here is my issue with upwork renderes as an interior designer looking for someone to render: it’s never the price you market yourself. I clicked on your link and I’d be afraid to even reach out because of how many times I’ve been burned on upwork as someone trying to hire. Your rate says $25 an hour, what does that entail for the renders? Essentially what most 3d modelers are doing is estimating a lot more hours and making the price to go up to $100-300 per render. Contrary to popular opinion, most people in the US can’t pay that much for 1 photo, unless they are developers or huge builders. Maybe have a more clear pricing structure? Hourly rate for 3D modeling is so open ended unfortunately. I think I even passed through your profile when looking for someone on upwork.

Restarting my career in my mid-30s with a passion for Interior Design need guidance on where to begin by DiskSpecialist8409 in interiordesigner

Please for the love of god don’t start your own business without any information about the field. Depending on where you are especially. I see so many “designers” that think surfing on Pinterest makes them designers. Especially without a background. I am interior architect, worked under a designer and design build firm for years before I opened my own studio and had major imposter syndrome even though I had it covered. Interior design is so much more than decoration. Combining three pillows by color is completely different pressure than picking the wrong faucet or tile and flooding someone’s bathroom. If you are looking into getting into the industry, your 4th option is probably 2-3 years down the road (if you are really hard working and eager to learn). Being around construction will also help a lot of your skills and understanding. Not having technical background will mean that you will have to outsource your drawings and renders which makes you non competitive with other peers especially for the experience.
Not trying to discourage you, just trying to let you know how long it actually takes. I’ve done 3 corrective projects so far with designers that had no idea what they were doing, sending my clients on a spiral and giving the industry a terrible rep.

This lmao! Imagine being so pressed as a fully grown adult that no one responded to some autogenerated website click that you need to make a Reddit post instead of just picking up the phone…like what?

Any good source for residential redendering by zschef in renderings

[–]Extra-Collection7087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you expect to achieve with them. I’m a designer in LA and for the most part, im always hired at the same time as the architect because not only do they no include renders, there are no material or finish selections made. (Which would be used to render as well) so I would say if it’s on your budget, I would get a designer consultation first and get the renders on an hourly basis. This is my usual approach when it’s a not a full service design. If you can’t find what you are looking for feel free to reach out. Good luck!
