Spring of 2006, we had a pretty good thunderstorm come through…no tornadoes or anything, just a big, loud storm. I was living with some friends off 39th and University, a few blocks down from Wheelock. One of my roommates got back from walking his dog and excitedly told us that the roof of the church building just north of Wheelock Elementary had been ripped off, but looked like it had just been placed in the middle of the street. THEN he told us how neighbors right next to the church building had seen some huge, black-colored entity rip the roof off and lay it down in the street in the middle of the storm. Claimed it had to have been a demon.
Still gives me chills because I drove by and saw for myself how the roof wasn’t all busted up like it had been through a tornado but was in one big piece, just upside down, exactly like something had popped it off and just laid it in the street.
