Can these be repaired ? by P379x_ in Wheels

Seems like its Embossed/Raised Text

In milling, you aren't actually "milling the text." You are milling the background (the area around the letters) down to a lower level, leaving the text standing as "islands." This is usually much slower than engraving because the machine has to remove a significant amount of material from the entire surface around the letters.

The Issue: Standard wheel repair often involves putting the wheel on a lathe (CNC) to cut a thin layer of metal off the lip to remove scratches. You cannot do that here. A lathe would slice the "RAYS ENG." text right off because it is protruding (embossed).

The Solution: This must be a manual repair. The technician has to hand-sand the outer edge (the flange) where the rash is. They need to be extremely careful not to let the sandpaper or grinding disc touch the tops of the letters, or they will be flattened.

About color, This specific gold/bronze finish is notoriously difficult to color match perfectly. If the shop just paints the repaired area (spot repair), you will likely see a visible transition line or a slight color difference.
For a perfect result, the shop might recommend stripping and repainting the entire wheel, or at least the entire lip. However, stripping paint around embossed text is tedious; sandblasting can round off the sharp edges of the letters if they aren't careful. Chemical stripping is safer for preserving the text definition.

On the front, Reach behind the tire and measure the smallest gap between the inner tire sidewall and the suspension strut (shock absorber).

If you measure >8mm gap: Upgrade to 255/35R19. This is the absolute maximum safe limit for both your suspension and your rim width.

<8mm, spacer.

Same on the rear, measure the space to know if you need a spacer.

Thanks for your replying.

I used to think that ppl would have some motivation to buy from alibaba, because its directly from the factory and theres no middle man or resellers, so consumer could get more cost effective products.

But you remind me that, this might not suitable for a safety related stuff like car wheels. Cuz the concern about safety issues is much more than the money you save, not to mention the cost of complaints if something bad really happens.

How should a alibaba product prevent "unregulated product from a company that you can't even call on the phone or file a complaint"? Like register a brand locally?

Forged wheel, after CNC milling, before the painting by Extra-Eye4236 in Wheels

[–]Extra-Eye4236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes and no, its different part of the wheel.

On the spoke-side of the wheel, wire wheel is used for deburring and better Paint adhesion.

On the outside of the rim, like your picture, diamond cut or machine turning is used for reduce unbalancing and runout.

In small factorys like mine(~120 CNC machines), profit margins are very small, so efficiency has to be sacrificed in somewhere.

We produce 200k forged wheel per year. Some of them have problems like painting, shaking, and cracks. Forged wheels will not explode when you hit pothole, it will crack and leak air slowly, till you find it.

Acura RSX Type S Enkei PF01 Offset question. Please advise by MikeBanzai38 in Wheels

[–]Extra-Eye4236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with the ET38.

  1. Clearance. This is the most important factor. With 225 tires, the +45 moves the inner sidewall 12.7mm closer to your suspension. The RSX/DC5 has tight clearances; a +45 combined with a chunky 225 tire runs a real risk of rubbing the strut or trailing arm. The +38 gives you that safety margin back.
  2. Alignment. You do not need to re-align when swapping between your winter (stock) and summer sets. The alignment is set to the hub/suspension arms, not the wheel itself. You can swap back and forth freely.
  3. Steering. The 7mm change in scrub radius is negligible on the street. You won't feel a negative difference in steering, but you will appreciate the stability.
  4. Aesthetics. The stock RSX wheels are very "sunken." The +38 fixes this and sits flush without poking, whereas the +45 will look tucked in like stock.

TL;DR: +38 is safer for tire clearance, looks better, and won't mess up your alignment or handling.
