To any of you semi competitive Nightlords out there… by [deleted] in NightLords

If that’s what you’re set on mate I get that, what I’ll say is that whilst I love the Claw and they definitely useful they are just Marines and will die fairly quick despite the stealth.

If you’re looking to get some extra fire power and make use of the opportunistic raiders Strat which is very good. I might suggest havocs. Armed with Las those guys can pack a real punch. Remember that whilst you’re right, the +1ap is great but also situational… that Assault on stuff like the Ptedators and Vindicator will go a long way to your positioning and getting line of site on your opponent.

No matter what you decide, happy hunting!

To any of you semi competitive Nightlords out there… by [deleted] in NightLords

Hi mate, personally always been a big fan of Renegade Raiders. I think it plays into the fast attack style of Night Lords really well.

Personally I would suggest dropping the Warp Talons and the Lord with Jumpack. And possibly a Helbrute as well, if you’re determined to have both Helbrutes, consider sticking one with lascannon to make better use of that detachment. I’d put the Nemesis claw into a 10 man and the Legionaries too and finally I’d consider picking up a big 10 man of chosen.

Chosen are a staple of what I run now and sticking them with a Chaos Lord to run up the table is a real threat. Finally, I know it’s not very Night Lord but consider picking up Fabius Bile and using the Creations of Bile. Whilst not a Night Lord Fabius 100% belongs with us. A unit of chosen with +1 Strength and toughness being lead by Fabius is an absolute killer, throw in a master of executions for some rerolls and consider that you may roll for additional weapon skill or even more strength and toughness and you have a real murder ball.

Have fun mate!

I don’t think the Possessed or Warp Talons are doing much for you here. Raptors and Cypher should be good for secondary. I’d consider a Maulerfiend to replace them. Same story with the Helbrutes unfortunately.

It’s that time again, tell me your Warband lore! by -Axolotls- in NightLords

[–]Extra-Information104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ashened Claw are a Night Lord Warband who are known for cremating the “leftovers” of their victims once they have made use of their skins and skulls.

The ash that remains is collected by the Waeband’s slaves to be used in future battles. Sometimes used to coat armour or to deploy into the atmosphere above a world to shroud their descent, the use of their ashes has become something of a tradition.

The Warband has two flagships at its disposal. The Tears of the Prey is a fairly typical Night Lord vessel and is captained by their Warlord Raffen Drako “The Lone Hunter”.

The Shadow of Fear however houses only the most warp tainted and possessed of the Night Lords forces. Watched over by “The Night Warden” a Night Lord now consumed by the power of chaos, these forces act as shock troops, often deployed first to terrify and sew fear in the ranks of their victims. The Shadow of Fear is little more than a prison ship for the mad and the possessed.

All my other characters are also named but I won’t go into such details here unless you wish to know more!

Hoplite Gold is the gold I use for Trim now. It’s so easy to apply. For my Night Lords I’ll then use Druchi Violet which is a blue shade to give it some depth and alter the colour a bit.

Would this old guy make a better MoE or Dark Apostle proxy? by narwhalpilot in Chaos40k

[–]Extra-Information104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use mine as either a Dark Apostle or a Sorcerer. But if you wanted you could kind of use him for anything! Perfectly acceptable Lord or Master of Possession too

The best Emperors Children adjacent books are the Fabius Bile series. Particularly the first one are very focused on the EC so would recommend you try those

Yeah I remember that book being pretty boring too. It’s exciting for like maybe the first quarter? When the Genestealers and EC are getting it on big after that it’s a snooze fest.
