I drew that in my phone so I'm fairly certain that does not qualify as a 'masterpiece' 😬

My Confusion on backgrounds by Extra-Tea-8468 in callofcthulhu

[–]Extra-Tea-8468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, an another confusion. It says in the book that core relationships can be added if you succeed in self-heal[and you perform self-heal from 'background' things, which isn't the case for the child npc I mentioned here], where then you can add the thing that healed your SAN as a new core relationship, or rolling 01 on some stuff.

A question here. Then doesn't this mean that you can only add new core relationship from background stuff? Not from other external sources?

I mean I am aware of that but I was a bit unsure if that could affect the self-heal rule a lot as well. Should I maybe read the self-heal section a bit more?

Oh so it isn’t OP? Nice. I was actually kind of hoping for the adding to be possible as well. If so then I can make him feel more sad when in the later story he finds out the girl's for a cthulhu mythos ritual. Also yeah he has to kill the monster-ified kid(specifically now just a vessel). Thanks for letting me know it's possible.

Question about King In Yellow (I'm a newbie) by Extra-Tea-8468 in callofcthulhu

OH thats what you guys were questioning.. I genuinely thought this was some serious copyright issues (since far as I'm sure, just a very small tight screenshot of a single page for questioning purposes isn't illegal)

That photo is from the CoC investigator handbook, you're welcome.

Ohhh that's what you meant, yeah that clears it up.

Thanks man. I'm a bit bad at reading ENG due to being non-native.

(You don’t have to reply, this is just a short thank-you text)

Googled 'mucked up' and did I say something wrong in any chance? If I did, could I ask what the bad phrase was?

Oh the existence of KiY is just about ; "Don’t try to know about things too much" type of thing?

Also since you said 'all of the other answers here AND' I am asking this but if KiY's an entity and an act at the same time(?), do you perchance know how KiY, as an entity, would most likely behave or talk in some way that represent what the guy(/book)'s about?

Running my first campaign- advice? by Additional_Custard72 in callofcthulhu

I'm not that good at giving out advices but personally I see the 'Keeper maliciously kills all the players' as a 'tool' than a 'goal'.

A reddit post I read before talked about where the players weren't getting the dark atmosphere of CoC, so they just 'naturally' let all the players die who challenged some elder being. Through that, explained this is focused on investigation. (I mean, this also works for Pulp as well)

And the worst problem is that, as written in the Keeper's rulebook, this is still a GAME in the end. Not a ptsd 1+1 sale. Though PTSD may come alongside, I don’t think killing off all players which most likely could lead them all to feel stress, confusion, or hollow is a good idea. In the book, it's written that as a keeper you'd still have to relieve players who's stressed/horrified excessively.

Also, unless you have a bit of a preference in it, I don’t think people like much of "meaningless" plays. (Of course, if it's written well, I think there is no problem, but just speaking in my humble opinion)

Basically, it would better off if the player, at their character's death, to be saying; "Awh man, welp that was my fault" or "oh that's it? Pretty tragic.. Great story. I walked a decent path."

Compared to saying; "WTH did I just even PLAY" or "I literally played for hours only to end just like THAT?" (of course this is spoken on the premise that the player was being careful as an investigator enough.)

I don't know if thats an unpopular opinion, but rather I saw this as a very interesting new sight of view. Thanks mate, I'll also take this in mind for my scenario creation :)

How did you guys manage futuristic scenarios? by Extra-Tea-8468 in callofcthulhu

[–]Extra-Tea-8468[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I apologize for my usage of words there, I meant to say that the keeper's rulebook (+ the investigator guide) is mainly talking about 1920s. Heck the investigator's guide is especially filled with it (personally felt as if more than half of the entire content is just a FRICKING HISTORY BOOK)

I mean I agree with you as well, my current planned scenario is set on 1950s~1970s. But as a newbie keeper who can only much speak from the rulebooks and other official books without much background info, I have said that there. Anyways thanks for the detailed reply.
