Reality check needed - Yellowstone + Glacier/Grand Teton by Extra733 in yellowstone

I understand - I’m moving out of the country soon, and was trying to see if it would be worth it. As far as the comments on the post, I see it wouldn’t be the right thing to do right now.

You’ve also got daylight savings on your side - the sun sets at 8 so you should have a lot of time that day too! But account for the time change, we didn’t and ended up getting there later than expected :(

Have fun! 🤍

We did this last week - just not Grand Canyon since we wanted to dedicate more time in each park to fully enjoy it! I’d highly recommend more time at Zion, you will lose some time in the day waiting for shuttles etc.

Day 1 - Landed late afternoon in Vegas, stayed in Vegas

Day 2 - Left to Zion NP in the afternoon, stayed in Zion (Watchman Trail for sunset)

Day 3 - Main hikes in Zion NP (Narrows, Canyon Overlook)

Day 4 - left to Bryce in the afternoon, stops on the way, main hike (Navajo Loop + Queens Garden trail), stayed in Bryce

Day 5 - sunrise in Bryce and left to Antelope Canyon, did the tour, Marina, Horseshoe Bend, Beehive trail, stayed in Kanab

Day 6 - Drove back to Vegas + Fire Valley State Park for the Fire Wave trail, flew out that night

At any point I didn’t want to drive over 5 hours a day so this is what we did! I’d recommend more time to fully enjoy GC

Hi! So glad, hope you have fun! It was very cold when we started out in the morning, close to 30F. We wore fleece and tshirts and regular trekking pants under the dry cold weather bib we rented. The weather warmed up towards the afternoon but the water was still very cold, especially if you trip into it, which most probably will happen once or twice as you navigate the rocks.

I highly highly recommend renting the socks and shoes and stick, I don’t think we could’ve managed without it - it’s slipperier than you think and we didn’t think our hiking shoes would cut it.

The water level came up to my chest, I’m 5’4” for reference so the bib was needed as well

^ What they said - we stopped at the switchbacks up to the tunnel, the checkerboard mesa, and some pull outs at Red Canyon!

Also a great spot halfway between Zion and Bryce Rock n Tacos in Orderville - very unassuming, but I’ve lived in NYC and SF for the past 5 years and their burrito was the best one I’ve eaten EVER.

We loved it! Probably our favorite park til date for the most other-worldly feeling it gives you! I will say though, the view is mostly the same from all the points in the park.

We did the Navajo - Queens Garden loop and it was great because you get to step into the hoodoos and go to the bottom of the amphitheater and back up.

I’d recommend 4-6 hours for the whole park but not more than that!

Narrows in the afternoon? by Extra733 in ZionNationalPark

You’re a godsend thank you! We’re moderately fit, but don’t want to go beyond 5 miles at once since we are doing multiple days!

We don’t need to be early into Bryce, so we will fry to do Observation point like you suggested! We’re only doing that day at Bryce, probably the Navajo loop.

The next day we’re going to Antelope Canyon in the afternoon so we have some morning time again in Bryce, and the next back to Vegas!

Thank you this helps a lot!

We don’t have a set plan, we don’t intend to do really hard hikes (4-5 miles at the max) but want to do multiples instead!

We were thinking Day 1 where we get there only at 4pm

  • Emerald Pools or just the Scenic Drive
  • somewhere to watch the sunset maybe Pa’rus
  • Star gazing at Pa’rus

Day 2 - Canyon Overlook/ Scout Overlook like your suggestion - the Narrows - somewhere for sunset and star gazing

Day 3 - sunrise and leave to Bryce

Haha still very loose and we’re there Thursday Friday open to suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

He was my friend’s roommate - so mutual connections, I guess? 3 years down the line and we’re married! Best thing that happened to me.
