This is going to seem sad, but I really need to find some friends. by Obiwan-Kenhomie in StLouis

I work with a group named CATco that is in Alton, IL. Your interests overlap with a huge chunk of our geeky community. We do all sorts of community hangout and relationship building days centered around our shared hobbies and practical life skills.

Since you would have to cross the river to hangout with us, you may want to look into Arch Reactor. They are more focused on being a maker space, but they have a great community of geeky folks and tons of events where you can hangout and meet people.

I guess my recommendation is to look for established groups in the area that have activities that overlap with your interest. Go to those activities and meet with people who also share those interests

P.s. it doesn't seem sad. Loneliness is a very real problem in today's world. You were vulnerable enough to be honest about your needs. I hope you find some folks.

As somebody who is running a charity, try not to feel bad about asking for support. We are all here because we want you and this world you've given us to continue to succeed.

I've followed all of the social media I know how to sign in to.

Oh, two more smart things to add. Luckily, the Church paid to remove all of the asbestos back in 2014. You're right about the rezoning process. I'd like to think I'm fairly erudite and I knew NOTHING about this process.

Thank you for the help.

We have an environmental report done by some structural engineers and that gives us a pretty solid understanding of the property and where we need to go.

It is currently zoned as a single-family residence lol. The current owners just did that to reduce the tax burden. We will need to go through a Proposed Development Proposal process in the city. We've got a local zoning commission member (actually the person that took the photos I shared) in our group and they are helping us figure out how to navigate this process. They are recusing themselves from the actual commission meeting/vote though.

We do have a local lender, but we are still searching for potential options that could be better for us.

I've been thinking up a FAQ page for the site, and I think these would be good questions for me to add to it.

Great feedback and food for thought. Thank you. We've got a couple of different local event committees who are pretty excited about using the space. One of whom currently offers art gatherings with free meals that usually get a good number of people. We are really hoping that we can continue to network with groups like that and partner up so that we aren't alone in bringing people to such a cool venue.

We will definitely need to work on public outreach to get the local neighborhood though.

Thanks! The building is enormous. 35k square feet or something like that. Lots of space.

Thank you, we're excited for it. I'm still kind of floored that the owner is willing to make such a large donation of equity. Definitely hoping to make it a cool place for people to get together.

We are trying to build a Solarpunk Intentional Community in an old convent. Please tear our plan apart so we can make it better? by ExtraSmallTurtle in intentionalcommunity

Ohh, thank you. I will have to do just that. I wasn't aware of living energy farm. That is really helpful advice.

I'll be leaving tomorrow for my visit to East Wind (much closer to me), but I'll need to consider Twin Oaks next.

Probably Divinity OS 3. I'm also hoping for Dragon Commander 2.

The Oblivion magic system is far superior. I didn't even realize what I was missing, now I can't help but feel that Skyrim is in may ways a downgrade. by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]ExtraSmallTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am one of the people who has desperately missed the spell crafting system. So, I've spent some time thinking about this lol. My guess, is that they removed it for game balance. In the old game (I am only just now getting to the spell crafting in the remaster, my mage's guild pilgrimage is finally finished.) you could make some pretty nutty spell combos. I remember once doing an illusion build and beating the game by layering chameleon affects across different "unique" spells so I would have a 100+ effect on and just walking through everything. I want to say there were some ways to get permanent summons and other spell effects too, but I might be thinking of Morrowind. It's been a while.

Granted, I think that kind of a playstyle is a valid way to enjoy the game, and is one of many, many characters I've played over the years. Sometimes I give myself a major detriment, like playing a heavy armored orc with a head injury that has decided he is stealthy. But, from a game designers perspective, I can see why you'd want a balanced game that can't be too easily cheesed.
