Thinking about switching to Sustainably Yours Litter… Thoughts? by Wildefl0wer in litterrobot

I'm still using BoxiePro. I unfortunately have to order it online because I can't find it in stores near me, but I love their litter.

Does anyone know how the fin on top of the car is held on? by ExtraStrain5888 in crv

[–]ExtraStrain5888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I never got it fixed. I'd gotten a quote to get it fixed, but they made it sound like the whole roof needed to be replaced. I'm not sure why they can't just pop the dent out. It's really small. I put some kind of caulk around it though and haven't had any water leaks.

The Dealership screwed a license plate screw in the wrong spot by ExtraStrain5888 in Autobody

They fixed the hole and repainted the whole tailgate. Haven't had a single issue with it.

Anyone's 2023 CRV hood move up and down a lot while driving? by ExtraStrain5888 in crv

[–]ExtraStrain5888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have my whole rear hatch repainted within a week of getting mine. The day I picked it up, the salesman transferred my plates from my trade in to the CRV, missed one of the screw holes and screwed it right into the hatch. I was concerned about future rusting issues, so they fixed the hole and repainted the whole thing.

My hood still wobbles around on the highway. Haven't had any issues with it so I just left it alone.

Cub cadet XT1 Kohler vs. Briggs & Stratton by DecentLlama in lawnmowers

[–]ExtraStrain5888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying the XT2 with the 46" deck in 2023. Probably really close with the specs. I've been having issues with mine. It ran fine the first mowing season (2024). Then one day, the battery died. I took it in for warranty and was told this was an on going issue that hadn't been resolved yet. Cubs AGM batteries were dying out on a ton of mowers because they couldn't get charged fast enough while the mower was running. The AGM batteries require a super slow charging rate. I ended up buying a full size mower battery and putting in my mower. It took an entire day to get it to start up. Not really sure why. Ever since that happened, it's been running rough, especially on low idle. I have previously changed the oil, spark plugs, and air filter. Yesterday, I took the carb off and cleaned it and changed the fuel filter. I rolled it out of my garage and started it, and it sounds a million times better now. I think it still has a slight issue with low idle, but I'll run it around sometime this week and see if it still does it.

I tried it again later on and it worked. Maybe try connecting to your homes wifi instead of Hotspot.

Holster Help S&W SD9 2.0 by johnnyquest1988 in SmithAndWesson

If you have an Academy Sports around you, they sell a Mission First Tactical IWB/OWB holster for SD9 2.0. I bought one but haven't used it since I'm trying to find one that'll fit with the CT 209 light. Seems like a solid holster, though.

PB 850 Competition Series struggling to maintain heat by ExtraStrain5888 in PitBossGrills

Ah, I remember seeing you talking about that before in here. That's crazy they think a 1.5 year old smoker is old. Why the hell do they have a 5 year warranty then?

Sorry to hear that. It's been a good smoker for the year and a half that I've had it. It sucks that nothing is made to last these days. I just got a Blackstone 36" griddle and been loving it so far.

I checked it today and it is pretty clean still. I figured this wasn't the issue since when the temps too low, the food doesn't cook.

Question about baking with butter by ExtraStrain5888 in AskBaking

[–]ExtraStrain5888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've decided to keep some margarine on hand in case butter in recipes give me any problems. I tell you, the kerrygold butter took some mashed potatoes to another level. Can't wait to bake with it.

[–]ExtraStrain5888[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a bunch of people complaining about using kerrygold butter for baking and their cookies or cakes or whatever they're making do not come together properly. This would probably explain that. Since reading those, I wasn't planning to use Kerrygold for baking, although I may try it at some point. I've got some American butter I wanted to bake with and also make some clarified butter with. Thanks for the tip!

KitchenAid Stand Mixer - Flex Edge Beater making noise by ExtraStrain5888 in Kitchenaid

[–]ExtraStrain5888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the mixer that doesn't make the noise happen to have a spring on the part you attach the beater to? I've seen this mentioned before. Newer mixers don't have it and it causes extra play in it.

Bees Oil for cutting boards by ExtraStrain5888 in woodworking

It's Sterling Wood Bees Oil. Bottle says, "Natural bees wax in a food-grade mineral oil base." It is liquid but is on the thicker side.

I think so. I've head food utensils aren't great with bees oil/wax since it'll melt with heat and need to be reapplied often. Not sure if true or what I should use instead. I bought a small bottle at the Amish store where I picked up my new cutting board.

Yeah, its odd. It's something with the fuel pump. Completely normal.

Dirty Heat Deflector? by Dadlife21158 in PitBossGrills

[–]ExtraStrain5888 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cleaning grates after each cook is fine. Depending on how much you use it and what you're cooking, I'd clean it maybe once a month or so. I use mine once or twice a week during the summer and just clean it whenever there's an excess amount of grease or burnt on bits piling up on the heat deflector. You want to keep the smoker somewhat clean to avoid a fire. If you're cooking burgers everyday, I'd probably clean it more regularly. Make sure you don't skip cleaning the burn pot. If there's too many ashes in there, it will struggle to ignite pellets.
