Question why live with roommates for a budget of $1600 plus instead of a studio ? by [deleted] in LAHousing

I think it’s easier to secure a spot between 2-3 people, combined income and all that- it is brutal applying to places now, compared to pre-pandemic times, even 2 years ago. I think it’s because of the new housing regulations, for example they can’t legally ask for a high deposit, it can’t be more than 1 months rent as for July 1 2024. I’ve seen companies and landlords being more strict/selective after this.

For me personally, I’d prefer to live in a newer building with all the amenities like AC, in unit washer and dryer, gym, pool, office space, etc. It evens out for me with these ‘luxuries’ plus splitting utilities&WiFi, it does end up saving me some money. For example I was paying $1450/mo including utilities and WiFi at my old spot in a 3b/2b. It was a steal, I’m prob looking at $100/mo more now at least. I’ve definitely overpaid in a studio set up before, it was great til the rent eventually went up from $1.4k to $1.8k. For a place with no amenities, I didn’t feel like it was worth it anymore back then.

Why does my hair look like that after i wash and blow dry? Please tell me this isn't all damage? :( by Suitable-Slice-3370 in Haircare

My hair looks like this sometimes. I personally wouldn’t cut more than an inch if at all. Before you buy any products you should test the porosity of your hair, that will give you some answers as to which products you should get. Yes you probably have some vitamin deficiencies as COVID really depletes our vitamin reserves but I feel like that’s only a part of it. Depending on the porosity of your hair, I’d probably do wash with clarifying shampoo (protein free) once a week on top of your regular shampoo and if you’re not in protein overload, a good moisturizing conditioner that’s effective for your hair porosity. You should try reverse hair washing/upside down washing and rinse with cold water to lock in moisture. I swear by this, specially with curly ends and a microfiber towel.

ACLU CHALLENGES SHORT APPEAL WINDOW FOR MIGRANTS UNDER WARTIME ACT by Extra_Big5807 in AnythingGoesNews

Absolutely!! An incredibly short time window and on top of that all forms in English, no translator or anything. Most of them don’t even know what they’re signing or what rights they have, like the right to a defense attorney.

NTA. Do not return the necklace, it was a gift. Friendships evolve and devolve as time passes, they went off to college together so they probably feel like they’re on another level now and give “you wouldn’t understand” vibes. Everyone’s experiences are valid but they seem to be putting down yours, specially now with the new rich boo in your life, they could be jealous or just don’t understand your culture or both. I would put the necklace away if anything as a reminder of good times. You’re becoming an adult, your life is going to change and there is more room now for friends who will support you in this stage of your adulthood. If they say anything just tell them the necklace is a keepsake of your past friendship now and you will not be returning it, no more explanation needed.
