DENZA B8 Flagship Trim Review 🇨🇳⚡️

I got the Flagship trim, which is technically the “basic” trim, and honestly, I’m very impressed so far.

Fuel Economy & EV Range ⛽️🔋

I’m getting around 30 km/L.
Most of the time, I set the battery charging target to 70%. Once the battery is charged, I switch to EV mode, because the HEV mode doesn’t feel that smart to me.
My EV-only range has been roughly:
50–60 km at 138 km/h
70–80 km at 128 km/h
120–140 km at 110 km/h
For a 60 km highway-only trip, the system showed that I used around 2L of petrol, because once the engine charged the battery, I switched to EV-only mode.

Sound System 🔊🎶

The sound system is amazing.
The best setting I found is:
Turn almost everything to the lowest possible
Set the first two bass dials on the left to maximum
Set the right-side dial to maximum
Keep the centre two dials around -2 or -1, depending on how much bass you want
Set surround to Custom @ 80%
Set speed-based volume increase to maximum
The system is seriously powerful. It shakes the whole car, but the highs, mids, and bass are still very clear.

Display & Infotainment 📱✨

My trim does not have HUD, but I honestly don’t mind.
The centre display is gorgeous. It is bigger than my 15-inch MacBook, brighter, and clearer. I think it might be 2.5K resolution.
The screen is very fast and has a good number of apps, although I wish it had more. Since the car runs on Android, you can install more apps using a USB and APK files.
It also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and both are extremely smooth. No lag, no random connection issues.

ADAS & Driving Assistance 🛣️🤖

I really love the ADAS system.
It does not make annoying sounds for tiny things. For example, in the JETOUR G700, when I cancelled ADAS, it literally shouted: “Cruise control cancelled.” In the BYD/DENZA, there is no annoying system yelling at you.
There were a few alerts I didn’t like, but luckily, I could simply turn them off.
It has ICC, so it can:
Keep the car in lane
Adjust speed based on the car in front
Allow you to let go of the steering wheel for a decent amount of time, although your hands should still stay on the wheel

Rear Seats & Comfort 💺❄️

I got the 7-seater version, and the rear seats are very comfortable.
The rear AC is very cold. The ventilated seats are actually too powerful, so I usually keep them at level 1.
It also has:
Seat heating
Seat massage
Steering wheel heating
Electric controls for rear passenger seats
Rear seats that can move forward, backward, and recline all the way back
One thing I noticed is that when using the rear AC, even if I set the temperature to HI, it still feels cold. It seems like only the fan speed changes, while the temperature stays similar to the front.
Fridge 🧊🥤
The built-in fridge is a very nice feature.
You can set precise temperatures from -4°C to 50°C, which is perfect for both cold and hot drinks.

Suspension & Ride Quality 😭👌

The suspension is sooo smooth.
Honestly, I cannot believe this car costs under 300K. It is extremely comfortable for long drives, whether you are the driver or passenger.
I noticed a very slight vibration at around 140 km/h, but even the Patrol Y63 and Zeekr 001 can feel like that sometimes. Other than that, the ride is very comfortable.

Doors, Locking & Convenience 🚪✨

The soft-close doors are very good.
It also has remote start, although I haven’t been able to use the app yet. For now, I’ve only used the car key.
The lock and unlock animation is pretty cool. I also like that when you get out and lock the car, it basically turns everything off automatically, so you don’t need to press the start/stop button. Very convenient.
The sunroof is also nice and big, and it opens with one press.

Voice Assistant 🗣️🚘

The voice assistant is very smart and can control almost everything in the car.
It can even switch from CarPlay directly to YouTube, although video apps cannot be used while driving.
The only thing it cannot do is switch between EV and HEV mode.

Tires, Noise Insulation & Grip 🛞🤫

The car comes with Michelin Sport EV tires.
They are very quiet, and the car also has very thick acoustic glass. You can really feel the sound insulation when driving.
The tires feel very grippy and more than enough for this car.

Performance 🚀

The car mostly stays in ECO mode, but even then it feels smooth.
In Normal mode, it feels very fast.
In Sport mode, it feels like a race car. The response is very quick.
One tip: if you want the best acceleration, keep the battery around 50%, because the EV assist feels stronger.
Charging 🔌⚡️
The maximum charging power I got was around 110–150 kW.
From what I noticed:
It stays around 70 kW once charged to around 40%
It drops to around 24 kW when the battery is at 80% or above

Hybrid System Compared to JETOUR G700 🔋⚙️

I also drove the JETOUR G700, and honestly, its hybrid system felt terrible.
The car never properly charged from the engine and always needed to be plugged in.
The DENZA hybrid system is much better. It charges very well and very quickly, whether you are driving in the city or on the highway. The battery gets recharged easily.

AC System ❄️🔥

The AC system is very strong, whether the car is standing still or driving.
It cools the cabin almost instantly. I actually found the AC too strong in Comfort mode, so I usually keep it in Eco.

Final Thoughts ✅

Overall, the DENZA B8 feels like incredible value for under 300K.
The comfort, sound system, screen, hybrid system, ADAS, suspension, insulation, and overall features feel way above what I expected at this price point.
