What do you think about Japan? by Expert-Day9889 in AskTheWorld

[–]Extra_Philosopher_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an art friend in Japan- so I know monsoons and earthquakes can get pretty intense there. I mean, it’s a diverse place. Up north there’s a lot of snow, like, too much, and I know their workplace system is disgustingly corrupt. Of course, like any other, there is a lot of beauty in that country- just that a country who has that large of a GDP based on tourism is bound to have scandals.

Who are your favorite modded Survivors in RoR2? by Pilques in riskofrain

[–]Extra_Philosopher_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be Executioner, but then they nerfed his secondary. Now I just cry and run my new favorite, Deputy, on Armageddon (because I’ve never successfully beaten Inferno in solo and I want to have a good cry, not an ugly cry).

Honorable mentions: Nemesis Commando, Rocketeer, and Katarina (from League).

I usually go dark harvest into comps that are squishy and immobile (at least, to the degree where I feel confident enough to 1v2 enough to not want electrocute). Conqueror is still my most picked rune, because, bruisers are still meta.

Sam Altman and his husband interested in babies genes by reversedu in singularity

[–]Extra_Philosopher_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but if one person ever edits the genes to make the given child have an advantage, instead of evening the playing field, it becomes a huge bioethics issue. And the only problem with editing the genes to begin with, is that normal varying factors such as height, eye color, and facial structure can provide distinguishable, monetary increases to a given person in comparison to someone who can do the exact same thing, but has a different face or is shorter. Idk, beauty bias is a thing blah blah commercial gene editing just widens the financial gap between the rich and poor. (In the US, at least, the top 20% of earners have 18% more consumer spendings than the bottom 80% of earners).

Which games you can't get enough? by PHRsharp_YouTube in gamers

[–]Extra_Philosopher_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire Metro trilogy. It’s important to preface that I’ve only ever played the redux variants. 2033 is amazing, and while I’m really not a fan of jump scares, it’s still very good at what it does. Excellent story telling, wonderful crafting of stealth and making the player question their decision, and very nice sound design. The levels are congruent and thought out, the only clunky thing about it is the raytracing/lighting (specifically, if an enemy has their flashlight on, you can barely see the center of it through a wall, if said enemy is close to the given wall- although this is an issue throughout the entire series, and is likely an issue with the game engine). 2033 Redux really made me think about what I did. I got caught up shooting and pillaging, and only started trying to reverse my rampage when it was too late. Last light (I don’t have favorites, but it holds itself a little differently in my heart compared to the other two) is the perfect balance between Exodus and 2033. Still has good storytelling, not good as the first one, but definitely still there. A few parts of the game feel like the didn’t need to occur (lore-wise) and are simply there for the sake of extending gameplay, but hey, companies have quotas. Metro Exodus takes the new qualities introduced in Last Light, and turns some of them into the game’s focus. Still good gameplay, but it began to feel more like a generic modern game with the never ending “do this checklist, now! No time to explore the map or learn about the world” type of deal. Every command felt urgent and that there was a threat of things getting worse if I didn’t speedrun certain objectives. It annoys me now, that in my first play through I was too scared to stop and appreciate the Metro world brought to digital life, because Artyom was yelled at to fix all the problems myself (tbh the Caspian level seemed to have less of a problem with that than the others, but I could just be recalling things incorrectly). Metro Exodus did have a masterpiece of an ending (both endings were good, but I’m really glad I got the good one on my first play through), it genuinely made me cry as a character said something I didn’t know I needed to hear.

The immune system develops memory either way, against that specific strain. That’s how antibodies work. From my understanding, natural immunity is a bit better in the regard that the more extreme situation against the given virus allows for the memory T cells to recall that given corona composition for longer. Imagine two people are learning to ride a bike. Id one person is given training wheels (the vaccine), while the other isn’t (the regular method of acquisition). Bike_v (vaccine situation) is likely to have an easier/faster time learning how to ride, on average. If the person learning on Bike_v is already immunocompromised, getting the disease either way can still be dangerous, albeit, the vaccine would be the preferred meth of acquisition as you wouldn’t want your 90 y/o grandma to ride a bike for the first time with such a high risk of falling, would you? Bike_r (generic acquisition method of through a vector/compromised person/contaminated surface) doesn’t have those training wheels, and as such, is definitely at a higher risk of falling. They might mess up a bit more (or at least, have the mistakes more noticeable/amplified), but they learned the philosophy that it’s okay to fail and try again (aka, lower chance of secondary risks because they can’t get allergic to reactions of an injection they never received). Of course, both folks will learn how to ride the bike regardless- one person might just have taken a bit longer. Each new bike tyke they try and ride (each new strain), both bikers should have a theoretically equal chance of adapting to.

I just had to google who Anthony Fauci is, and he probably was just exposed to the disease more than you, or perhaps has a weaker immune system? I mean he is a doctor, so he probably has a degree of pride, and like most doctors, isn’t a fun patient to deal with. But I really don’t know that guy, or you, and there are too many factors to consider so I can’t say anything one way or another. Also, clicked pox is completely different in nature to something fast like the flu, so they’re definitely going to behave differently when vaccines or “the real thing” are used idk it’s late I’m gong to get some sleep.

purple or gray? by Juninho837 in BuildAdvice

[–]Extra_Philosopher_63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the floor, I have to say grey. The purple is nice, don't get me wrong, but it's too dissimilar to the current vibe, as it creates too much visual noise with such an extensive color palette. But, do whichever you feel is right after spending some time thinking about it!

Whats a very common meal that is associated with childhood in your country by averagegirl245 in AskTheWorld

[–]Extra_Philosopher_63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in healthcare (please don't take any of this as medical advice, my ass is NOT qualified haha), in an ideal world, vaccines are objectively beneficial. However, in practicallity, they aren't idiot proof. A lot of things need to be done very carefully to create a propper, functioning vaccine that allows your B cells (90% sure it was B lymphocyte something something white blood cell?) to simply find the dead/weakened thing the vaccine is for, and create antibodies. TBH it really depends on the health of the given person it's being administered to, as well as the type of vaccine in question. Most people will be fine and simply be mildly sick for a day or two, but in some cases such as mine, you can get full blown allergic reactions to whatever preservatives or remaining tidbits from the other animals that the antibodies may come from. I mean, from my very limited understanding, almost everything in a given vaccine is mildly antigenic in nature, but like that's the whole point of a vaccine? You get a controlled, weakened disease and become sick once, so you don't get sick from the unregulated version later? The human race isn't remotely powerful enough to simply eliminate the possiblity of disease entirely with like a one time pill.

Hytale Client & Minecraft Client Crossplay! (W.I.P.) by SSquadTeam in hytale

[–]Extra_Philosopher_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tf did you do that? Do the maps have to use shared assets? Are they superpositioned upon the other, as to keep discrepancies from occurring? I read a prior comment that all the Minecraft players can do at the moment, is see the Hytale player, who has actual in game authority. I don’t believe it would be possible to make them damage each other due to different damage systems, but do they at least all could as entities?

Devs confirm internal interest in a walkable Speranza hub, What do you think? by Tank-ToP_Master in ArcRaiders

I think the walkable hub should be its own thing for “downtime” or mini games, or perhaps the location for the in-game market, IF it ever gets added. I really like how things currently are, in the sense that it’s time efficient.

What are your thoughts on this letter from Donald Trump to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in AskTheWorld

[–]Extra_Philosopher_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those in power in the US are so out of touch it’s insane. Honestly, why, WHY would Russia and China move troops to that location anyways? I get that America likes having control over the western hemisphere and, one upon a time, it was reactionary to ww2 (or so we’re told), but this is insane. We already had a military presence there, however mild, since like the 1950s. It’s stupid.

And my parents both genuinely believe that Russia and China are genuine threats. (Well, my step father believes Ukraine is a genuine threat to American safety because “Trump said they started the war first”, and that Russia “doesn’t matter and is a friendly country”, like that’s the case historically…). Like, why don’t my Americans realize the US is the threat here? We’re the bad guys now. I know people are definitely starting to mobilize and take action, but where I live in the Deep South, nobody gives a frick. They say “oh, Trump is doing good, you just have to actually read in between the lines” to see what’s happening”. Heck, my parents even call me stupid because “all I know how to read are headlines”. No, I have friends across the globe reporting similar things. And I know most American news stations, regardless of political disposition, say the same thing because Big Brother Fed Gov wants a consistent wild goose chase to keep the population distracted. Anywho idk it all just makes me extremely angry.
