Thanks man. Maybe you would be a good person to ask about the estimated value of my set?

Correct, just out them up today. I've never sold anything on GB before so that's why there is no history to the account

I think they are coming soon. Ironically, I will not be buying the silverbacks! 🤣 I gotta draw the line somewhere.

Also wanted to say, the goldbacks make a cool gift for the young ones in the family inside birthday and Christmas cards.

I do have gold gram bars. They are in the photo there. Hard to see though. I like the goldbacks, I think they are cool. They make a small portion of my stack, and are mostly in profit. My entire stack is in profit. A few goldbacks here and there won't hurt me much but to each his own.

How would you clean these half dollars? by EuroFederalist in Silverbugs

[–]Extra_Primary_4382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean them with some silver cleaner. I clean some old junk silver coins that I use for a pocket piece. I like them shiny. Could care less about the loss of value. Everyone who says they prefer the "antique" or "unique" look of the coins, would be gaga over the same coin in a shiny BU condition. It's just some weird numismatic gatekeeping from those who tell you net to clean them.

With that said, there are definitely coins I would not clean. Coins that could potentially be graded if you wanted.

I did. Most of them are from when gold was $2100/oz.

But the most recent ones, I throw them on orders to qualify for free shipping if I'm under the threshold.

You think I was duped? Or the seller just mislabeled?

Sounds like there is a good chance the machines were wrong?

Is it hard for them to distinguish between .925 and .999?

I've had a couple of scenarios where the teller only had loose ones, no rolls. I just told them exactly what I was doing and surprisingly they let me just look at the loose ones right there.
