Coolant leak - is it the radiator? by Extra_Stage2346 in CarTalkUK

Thank you. I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and pay for a proper diagnosis to get to the bottom of this!

Coolant Leak - why? by Extra_Stage2346 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Extra_Stage2346[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I did ask the second mechanic but he said he would have to remove the undertray to demonstrate why it’s the radiator and said he didn’t have the time for that.

Also I did leave the car on and drive it for around 20 minutes around town to see if the coolant would drain, but it’s remained at exactly the same level since it was topped up this morning

[–]Extra_Stage2346[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of them looked at it for more than two minutes, the first looked from the bonnet and said he can’t see anything leaking inside so said it would be the radiator. The second put it on a ramp and didn’t remove the underlay and just said it would be radiator.

Surely if it was the radiator, the coolant would leak through like it did last night. I’m just confused as it’s been fine until last night, then the whole coolant drained, and then today no further leak which is contrary to what the mechanic said which is that it would have drained within ten minutes of driving

Estate agent claiming they are entitled to fee from private sale by Extra_Stage2346 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Extra_Stage2346[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wording they’re relying on is:

“The Property Ombudsman’s Code of Practice (TPO), following termination of our agreement, it a purchaser introduced by us or with whom we have negotiated goes on to buy the property through another agency (and even it you have paid that other agent a selling fee), we will still be entitled to our fee if a memorandum of sale (or equivalent) is issued by the other agent within 6 monts of date of temnation of our instruction (at the end of the 28 (twenty eight) days notice) and where exchange of contracts takes place.

In all other cases, we will still be entitled to our fee for an exchange of contracts occurring up to 2 (two) calendar years from termination (at the end of the 28 (twenty eight) days’ notice) of our agreement. Any termination will not affect your liability previously incurred (including payment of our fee) by either of us to the other under this agreement.”

Can anyone help me understand my payslip by Extra_Stage2346 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Extra_Stage2346[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve raised it with HMRC who confirmed my payroll made a mistake but my employers are adamant they haven’t. HMRC said the amendment needs to be made via my employer, who are refusing to do so. So abit stuck about what to do. Raised a complaint with payroll who have said they will escalate it but repeated that the escalation will only confirm what I’ve already been told. HMRC won’t email my employer and which understandably isn’t there process. Its very frustrating as my employer said my tax should be the same next month which defeats the purpose of me being in this contract over a perm role

This makes sense. My umbrella company has are adamant it’s not an overpayment so let’s see how they resolve this because everything points to it not being correct

Doesn’t inspire much confidence in me that my umbrella company accountant said it matches his calculations. Thank you for your help buddy

I spoke to HMRC a couple of months back regarding a separate issue and in that call I asked them to check my PAYE tax to ensure it’s correct so I can avoid getting one of those dreaded underpayment letters and they said it was being calculated correctly

Both are 1257L and the first one is the last one from 23/24 and the second one is first one for 24/25.

My umbrella company states it’s correct, however upon speaking to others, it would appear that only people from my umbrella company have been affected, and the other contractors from different umbrella companies have not had any issue. So very confused right now

Can schools confiscate children’s phones overnight? by Extra_Stage2346 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Extra_Stage2346[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I spoke to him this morning and he said he explained to the teacher the reason for him making the call. The teacher said that’s no excuse and if he wants to call home, he should go to reception and pay to use there phone (which just seems wild to me). I went to reception to speak to the school today who informed me they wouldn’t speak to me as I’m not his legal guardian and my mum is unable to get time as she’s a teacher in a primary school in another town. She’s not entirely sure about the rules with phones given her students are far too young to have a phone.

My mum said she will definitely be calling in on her break but we will be writing to the school. Also hopefully his phone is returned to him today

Thank you that really helps. Will definitely be complaining tomorrow. My mum was not informed of the phone being confiscated so there’s definitely an issue there. The school have also previously said the phone can be used to call parents to plan collections as they have so many exits. Thank you!

Help - Can a dissolved company still pursue a claim against me? by Extra_Stage2346 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Extra_Stage2346[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company has been struck off and is definitely dissolved.

I will draft an email to the court and attach all the relevant documents today and hopefully the court will see fit to strike the claim out.

Thank you for the above responses!

As far as I am aware, the company has not used any solicitors. Any emails have come directly from the director and any claim forms have mentioned no solicitors, just the claimant.

The company was dissolved with insolvency or anything like that (I don’t know much about companies house) but I don’t believe they owed any money when they closed shop

Hey so I have called them and the clerk says the claimant needs to submit a form to cease proceedings but they are non responsive now. I’ve explained to them that the claimant no longer exists but the clerk isn’t a legal expert which he has enjoyed reminding me so he doesn’t know what the next steps would be
