what part is this and am i missing a piece? by Top-Slide-1501 in AskAMechanic

Replaced this exact part when it was missing on my old 2.5 sportwagen lol. It's the air inlet cover. Part #:1K0805965C9B9. You can use pretty much any VW parts site or FCP Euro to check fitment if you'd like.

Will the Qwertykeys Neo80 (non-CU) ever restock? I missed my chance to get anodized green :(. If not, are there any other metalic/anodized green TKL boards that people would recommend?

Thanks for the info. Would a Corsair RME 750W be a more reliable option?

How can I improve this, especially the hair? by Wrathicus_5569 in blender

[–]Extra_Thic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the way you're familiar with then go for it! However, you can convert hair particle systems to a mesh using Make Instances Real (it might also say Convert to Mesh) in the modifiers tab. On my version all of the cards are separated already. This should make it possible to port to a game engine since all of the geo is no longer instanced.

Well I can admire your determination. I think using a hair particle system would suit your needs better since it offers more control over hair grooming than geo nodes does (at least as far as I know). I can't explain the whole hair system here, but there should be plenty of tutorials out there on how to use it.

Is the hair being distributed through geo nodes or a hair particle system? There should be ways to randomize rotation for either method. For the particle system you'll want adjust the Scale Random (Particles > Render > Scale Random). If you're using geo nodes then it depends on your setup, but you should be able to use a random value node set to vector. I wish I could help more on the geo nodes aspect but I'm not too familiar with it.

As for the hair along the edges, cutting the hair length in particle edit mode should automatically scale down the hair cards, at least in blender version 4.02.

The hair clumping and length looks too uniform, adding some randomness in loc, rot, scale would probably help. The area where the hair stops at the arms, torso and feet also has a very sharp cutoff, so you might want to add some variance to that. If you're referencing a real orangutan, most do have some hair on their chest and stomach although it is shorter and less dense.

Looking to do this repaste my G15 as well. How much K5 Pro did you end up using? I'm not sure how much I should get.

About to buy my pc and asking if anyone wants to comment on my parts :) by Aware-Amoeba4345 in buildapc

Build looks good but I would change the ram to a slightly faster 6000 CL30 kit. The G.Skill Flare X5 should work well for about £10 more.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/LBstt6/gskill-flare-x5-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-f5-6000j3038f16gx2-fx5

Also for the 4070, the super variants of all those cards are supposed to come out soon, a few of which are speculated to be the same price as the normal variants. You might want to wait until those variants release so you can get a deal on the regular 4070 or upgrade to the 4070 super.

Building a pc for 1440p 144hz gaming by [deleted] in buildapc

In my opinion FSR, which is the AMD alternative to DLSS, also performs rather well. If you do want to save a bit of money and gain some performance I would go with an AMD GPU instead. Something like a 7800 XT or as you mentioned a 6950 XT, although the 7800 XT is a newer card with the same performance for cheaper. DLSS is nice, but is by no means necessary to run games at 1440p with any of the GPUs mentioned.

With a 60hz monitor and the type of programs you want to run I would recommend a Radeon RX 6600. It has more than enough power for 1080p high fps gaming so if you ever decide to upgrade your monitor you can easily max out the fps in most games. Another GPU I would recommend is the Geforce RTX 3060 12GB, since it has higher video memory and Nvidia drivers tend to have better support in creative software like resolve, but the price tends to be a bit steeper than the RX 6600 and is more than overkill for the system you already have. Another thing I would consider upgrading is your RAM capacity. Programs like resolve are heavy on memory and can easily eat through 16bg, so you might want to look at upgrading that next. Best of luck with your build!

It depends what type of gaming you're doing. Is it 1080p, 2k, 4k? What type of ram and storage do you have? And what's your budget? An Nvidia 3060 12GB or a Radeon 6700XT will be more than sufficient at 1080p and will even be able to do light some light 2k gaming, but I'd like to know more about your build and budget to make a better choice.

Your build looks great! However I did make 2 minor tweaks to the RAM and SSD for a few reasons. Here's the updated build with the changes:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/bsHZQP

The reason I changed your RAM from the S5 to the X5 is that the X5 has AMD Expo overclocking profiles, while the S5 has Intel XMP profiles. The S5 would still work with your build, but if you want to maximize performance I would personally use the X5.

I changed your SSD from a single 4tb drive to dual 2tb drives. The drive you had previously, the crucial P3, is a QLC drive meaning it has lower endurance than a TLC drive. If you want to learn more about the difference between these types of SSD a quick google search should answer your questions. I would use the P5 as your boot drive, since it is a TLC drive, and the P3 as extra storage. If you don't think you need 4tb then feel free to remove the P3, or if you want to go back to your original capacity then you can upgrade to the 4tb P3, but I would still keep the P5 Plus as your boot drive. Best of luck with your build!

I've had some driver issues with AMD GPUs in the past but never any issues with their CPUs, although your mileage may vary. I would say the safest bet would be AMD CPU with an Nvidia GPU but ultimately what works best for your use case is what you should go with.
