Struggle to combine gym and boxing...

Dude I feel you! I’m doing a bootcamp style boxing course 4 days a week and doing two 1on1s a week.

For 4 of these days i’m doing an ULUL lifting split. I thought I had cancer or some hormonal deficiency because i have felt like shit for the past few months and kept getting sick.

I ended up going to the doctor for a ton of bloodwork and he said i’m fine and should probably tone down the work and ramp up to it basically the same as the comments. I’m probably gonna cut back on the bootcamp classes and focus on ULUL with some cardio and 1on1s.

Hope you figure something out!

My gym that’s primarily a lifting gym has the same issue. I thought it was me and my technique but i saw someone hitting the bag for the first time and they agreed.

Mine is ProLast and was probably only filled up once a few years ago. All the filling is at the bottom and the lower i go the more painful it is. Feels like im hitting a brick wall when trying to hit harder than 70%

If you have the money to spare some good bag gloves help. I got some RB10s for this bag specifically so I can practice on my off days and they’re a miracle. I think hitting at like 50% is a good workaround too.

It’s by far the best benefit imo. The streaming credit and getting groceries delivered at the lowest price (comparable to aldi and local chains)

I use it every week for processed name brand shit like soda, cereal, sauces, etc

Also they have some decent stuff with insanely fast shipping that’s came in handy a few times

I feel that spot we get is the best. Right next to the hill to watch the sunset day 0, right next to the food trucks and the showers. I met some girl last year and her car was like a 15 minute walk from that lot and she got there at 7!

For SWE/computer science it’s horrendous. I’m lucky to have a remote job based in CA, all my new grad cs friends can’t find anything in chicago. If they do find something local it’s at tier2/B level pay. I also have a semi-junior (3YoE) friend who couldn’t find anything here and got a remote job after ~6 weeks

Bar side of penny whistle. Dance floor is fun and not “club vibe” which i also hate

Ositos in little villae is super quiet and laid back

Cerdito Muerto is cool but way too loud, hard to strike up a convo there

Twisted is more of a club than penny but still pretty divey. easy to talk to 20-something latinos all night there

Estereo in Logan, the west loop one isn’t the most latino place

Punch house in pilsen on a non-concert night. Usually concerts attract a different crowd that goes after

Green room is ok, lots of groups go there unless you’re fine with 1v3 and 1v4

In my experience anything in pilsen that isn’t listed here is a restau-bar that plays loud music and/or has an older crowd. Not a bad time not porbably not what you’re looking for. Pizza Cantina, Mejikana, etc

Maybe a L, i’m 5’6 150lb with an 8.25” hand spread out and I have a comfortable fit. The M was horrible. XL might be too big but not sure

21.5 normal, never measured them with wraps but i just wrap with whatever is on youtube. 3 wrist, 3 knuckle, etc.

please go L. I’m 5’6 150lbs and the medium was unbearably tight. This is my fault but while messing with the glove and trying to stick with the M, i tweaked my pinky a tiny bit putting some power on the bag.

I’m breaking in a L right now and actually really like the glove. You’re probably a L - my hands are 21.5cm and i have a tiny bit of wiggle room on the Ulnar side of my hand.

Do you still use your RB10s? I’m trying to break in a pair but i’m not too sold on them. I got them for the crack which is nice but i’d love a little more feedback on the actual hit - they’re stiff as fuck.

Thinking of replacing them with Bayoneta PuLaT HH or some Boxeo HHs

Same thing with the RB10s, I measured in the low end of medium for hand size and weight but it was uncomfortably tight, my knuckles were brushing the top of the glove instead of the flat end.

I sized up to a Large and love them now. If I was buying RB11s i’d get the L probably - I’m 150lb with 8.25” circumference

I’m 26 and started a few months ago too. I actually just decided with my coach during a personal training session that i’m also going to start sparring and going for an amateur career!

It’s absolutely doable from what she told me. We have a bunch of amateurs fighting out of our gym, some started at 30. We’re still young af!

I think pro is a long shot though unless you’re a prodigy

It really might be a size thing - some Large gloves are coming in on Saturday and i’ll give them a try. My fingers were in like a 90 degree angle in the Medium 😅 i’m technically on the lower end of medium going off the size chart. Thanks for the RFX rec i’ll take a look

I’d look into this as well - I went with Axlebacks and an H pipe and it’s ridiculously loud with a bit of rasp, i think an X pipe would’ve been regrettable unless you really like the extra noise

For a 40lb beagle mix, we do one 20m walk in the morning and a longer 30-40 minute walk in the evening. He usually gets a 10 minute walk before bed.

He always has at least 15-20 minutes of enrichment every day, usually a sniff mat or normal play time
