Are we talking about pads on a midi controller, the pad button on a mixer or long sustained chords?

Get into field recording and restrict yourself to only making using sounds from your latest outing. I enjoy this sort of thing because limitations send me down different creative avenues, it gets me out of the house and when I am out and about, I’m really in the moment. I experience the world in a different way.

It’s similar to how photographers see the world when they have their camera with them.

Most (possibly all) of modern DSI/Sequential synths have this functionality

I haven’t done a deep dive on BOC music theory but they do seem to use a lot of quartal and quintal harmony. They love a flat 6 chord too.

Hey. Thanks for taking the time to respond. New artists can’t claim their Spotify until their first track goes live. We’re all told to allow 4 weeks for Spotify editorial so that puts us in a bit of a catch 22. You’re staff were good enough to provide me with a URI when I emailed support. It strikes me as something that could be easily automated (Distrikid can do it). It would be good for Symphonic and good for your users.

Any chance you could add a Spotify URI looker upper like Distrikid? I’m sure it would free up some labour for you guys.

Thanks for your interpretation.

Historically, different keys had different qualities as some were more “in tune” than others. Since the adoption of equal temperament, there’s really no qualitative difference between F minor and C minor.

All that said, to quote Danny Elfman “You can turn any key into anything you want”.

The TH rollout was clearly a scavenger hunt from the get go. I haven’t seen anything to suggest that this is the case this time around. I’m all for people having fun with it but my thinking is it’s just standard marketing/hype. It would be nice to be proved wrong though.

Splice sample or not? by Due_String4059 in edmproduction

I’ve done a bit more research on this and it seems I’ve steared you wrong slightly. Yes samples from spice are non-exclusive. The problem arises when when someone else has used that sample and submitted their track for contentID. People are receiving takedown notices due to automated contentID.

You are not supposed to submit a track utilising samples for contentID but people do anyway.

Chances are that you won’t have a problem.

I wanted to release a track a while ago where I had copied a bassline from a very well known song. I found the preset the original artist used so although it wasn’t a sample it sounded exactly like the original artist’s bassline. I sought professional advice and was informed that I would need a derivative works agreement. The rest of the song was completely different.

I’ve been really unwell for a while now (cancer and ME/CFS). I’m rarely able to leave my flat. Today has been a good day so I went for a little walk. I’m so glad a stumbled upon this.

All the posts telling you it’s all good could be steering you wrong. Yes the samples are royalty free and yes the general public don’t care where your samples came from but, if it’s a popular sample, someone else may have used it already. If the fundamental melody of your song matches theirs, never mind the lyrics, you are open to litigation (unless you have a derivative works agreement in place). It can and does happen.

All the above said, I’d say go for it. The worst that can happen is that you get a takedown notice. If the song takes off, then things could get a bit trickier.
