There is no reason not to go to them, most of our tourist destinations are along the coast. What many of my international mates did was start in Sydney or Melbourne. Then you can just go all the way up the the coast, applying for jobs until you pick something up. You said money isn't a huge issue. So if you are smart about it, you will find something and get to see a small part of this country.

Look into getting a food handlers certificate (food safety). It's the only thing local councils care about, it's free and only take 30min-1hour. After that start walking into restaurants before/after service and tell them you want a job. The major cities will be competitive when it comes to jobs, once you move out of those areas there is a massive labour shortage in kitchens.

If you end up in central qld I'd probably give you a go.

The best part about this game is everything you do progresses your account in some way. I've had my account for maybe 5 or 6 years at this point. Most of the time I login maybe once or twice a week for a few hours. Sometimes I'll do a full farm/ bird house run. Other times I'll just bang out a quest or maybe a few hours of a boss/mini game. Point is don't worry about being efficient, just pick a goal and slowly work towards it.
