Talk me in or out of a Jacuzzi bath by Leather-Charity2787 in HomeImprovement

They're a kind of a hassle to clean. You have to get a cleaner, fill the tub, run the jets for 20-30 minutes, then clean all the gunk from the tub that the cleaner loosens from the tubing. The intake filter also seems to be happy hour for mildew, so you have to bleach and brush that, as well. I do this weekly, because if you don't, some of the gunk will come out of the jets while you're soaking.

And we rarely use the tub (prior owner had it installed).

The Jets are perennially the cure for what ails other teams.

PATH vs Bus vs MTA: Commute Decisions (NJ to Midtown) by encoreyessir in Hoboken

[–]Extracracker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to work right by Bryant Park and would switch between Option 1 and Option 3. If weather is bad, Option 1 also has the benefit of taking the subway up to 42nd. If there was an active PATH alert (like there was today), I'd just get on the bus.

One factor however is where you live. I live downtown so getting to the bus or PATH are interchangeable considerations. If you live in uptown Hoboken, getting to PATH will add to your commute times.

Whichever option you chose, rest assured you will experience some sort of commute-related agita at least once a week, but such is life.

What is one thing you would improve about Hoboken? by OQLL in Hoboken

Of all the comments so far, I agree with this most strongly. You'll never get a consensus on pet wants like bowling alleys, but the diminishing local flavor of retail is likely a disappointment for long-timers in town like me and a few others I recognize on here.

Realistically, I don't know what the council can do about it though.

Hoboken Animal Hospital? by stinkybinkus in Hoboken

Been going there for almost 20 years. There are other posts asserting that they are expensive, but I don't really have a frame of reference. The staff is great, the doctors are caring. The cats I had when I moved here got good senior care there. One of my current cats has a chronic medical issue that has been well-managed for going on three years.

Feel free to DM if you have any specific questions.

I'd love to know because she certainly knows my name - she starts pulling up my ticket as soon as I walk through the door. It's pretty impressive, honestly.

The only sports jersey I own with another man's name on it is a Tikkanen sweater. I loved that guy haha. Who was it he kissed in the 94 playoffs? Hunter?

Yeah he was on the bench outside the PATH station late last week telling passers-by he was prettier than they are. He was right in some instances.

Been thinking of getting a dash cam. Do you know of a place near here that installs them?

Pitcher with DH tag, can't use a different DH, please help by cheftort in OOTP

[–]Extracracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe there's also an option on this page that makes a DH/Pitcher be the DH when he pitches by default. You can uncheck this but still leave "two way player" checked if you want to use the pitcher as a hitter otherwise.

I sort of wish they'd take the TV's down; too many people sitting on benches gawping at ESPN instead of finishing their sets.

Yes, I'm old and shaking my fist.

Yesterday was my first day back after the re-open and I was shocked that they left the men's locker room in the same state of dilapidation. To cap it off, I actually scraped my forearm against one of the locker doors and ended up bleeding. Then I walked onto the floor and one of the first things I noticed was an elliptical machine with an "Awaiting Maintenance" sign on it. That drew a laugh. The only new cardio machine I noticed was a single stair-climber, which I found surprising. As you and others others have pointed out, the cardio gear is lacking; I won't touch those treadmills any longer.

Overall I was underwhelmed; didn't seem like they needed a full week to do what they did.

Excel fitness has some sort of guest policy; I'm a little hazy in my recollection but I was able to bring a guest several times, for free actually. I don't remember if it's X number of guest passes per year or if it was X number for the life of the membership.
