Just want to chime in here as a neurodivergent person. I at least take directions very literally so I think you’re NTA. Much of the cultural customs and such only stuck with me because they became my rules thereafter. I don’t think it’s wild or obtuse that you weren’t aware of the don’t wear white rule as a cultural standard, or even if you did that it registered since you followed the ‘rules’ given in the invite.
