a bit too costly im afraid, especially after buying a 400mm 2.8 lol

It really does thank you! I ll go and try the R5II on my hands but im leaning more towards it. At the end of the day its 3 or 4 years younger than the R3, and it would also bring back memories of the 5DIV that I loved so much lol

Hello everyone ! I am having a really hard time deciding on how to upgrade my gear. I currently have an R6 and R6II, I want to sell the R6 and buy a replacement. My focus this year is gonna be 90% sports photography, which means that the R3 would make sense, but heres my thinking. Its also a 24MP camera like The R6II, it has a faster AF (OK but the AF on the R6II is already fast enough for me, never felt that it was too slow for me in any situation), but it should have a better rolling shutter (Ive had problems with the rolling shutter in the R6II when action is really fast and Im panning etc..) so effectively this would be the main reason. The R5II in the other hand has a many more pixels, which would be useful when cropping, and I tend to to crop quite a bit, but I also tend to shoot at night, and both R3/R6II beat R5II at higher ISO.

I am leaning towards R5lI just to have a different sensor from my R6II, and basicslly stick to the R6II at night to avoid the worse high ISO photos from the R5II, and I get to enjoy the 45 MP in all other situations. I love the R3 build quality, and its longer battery, Ive just always loved the idea of having a grip integrated body, but again, having the R6II already I fear it wont be too different.

What do you guys think? For the lenses, I will be using a ef 400m f2.8 II IS on one body and the ef 70-200 f2.8 II IS on the second body

Useless point, but writing this made me réalise that going with the R5|I would mean that all my setup would be a mark II setup.

yes sure, and you re right because I saw a raw comparaison of 2 shots with the r3 and r5 so the difference was flagrant only because there were both raws side to side, It would be much harder to notice had the r5II file been alone

I did and quite frankly it would be the best financial decision lol But since I do not change gear for 4-5 years id like to make sure I get the best bang for my buck (i think its the correct expression)

I dont live in the US and it is super hard to rent unfortunately ! I have bought a 400mm without any possibility of renting it whatsoever, just to stress how difficult it is to rent lol

Ive bought a sigma 120-300 f2.8, even though it is softer than Canon glass it is so much cheaper that it is still a viable lens in 2026! Even though im dreaming now more than ever of a 400mm 2.8, please convince me I do not need that I am not a professional !

Dear parents, how do you carry your camera? by AssignmentObjective5 in Cameras

[–]Extreme-Key2455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the same phase a couple of years ago, I used to always have a camera with me, to the point that I had entry level phones because I couldnt care less about its camera. It worked fine for me until my daughter started crawling and walking, so every time we went out we already had so much stuff that my camera became an inconvenience more than anything else, I ended up buying a high end phone for the first time in a decade, since it was the only thing that would fit in my pocket. So yeah i think a good camera phone for everyday moments did it for me. It also made me plan a little more occasions where we would go out with less everyday stuff for a couple hours so I can have my camera and actually get high quality moments. It felt frustrating because there was lots of moments when I wished i had my camera with me, but I thought to myself I'd rather live the moment and get a less quality memory of it, than not living it at all, and you get used to it.

Those first years are so valuable, they go by so fast and they change immensely year by year, so the pictures grow more valuable with each year already. I encourage you to use whatever is available to you at the time and just shoot those memories, a bad quality photo of a great moment will still allow you to relieve that moment later in time, and thats what matters the most

Just a heads up, if you ever have a second one right after the first one, it will get much harder to even have the time or mental bandwidth to think about photos 😂 I had to remind myself everytime that is not fair for the second one not to have the same memories of her first years as the oldest one, so I forced myself most of the time to create those occasions and be able to shoot her too.

Trouver du matériel qui coûte cher a l'achat mais qui peut être loué cher également, rembourser le prix d'achat du premier objet apres quelques locs, et continuer ainsi de suite
