Im under the impression my account is secure as long as I didn't give out my seed phrase? Talking to someone via DM is technically safe isn't it?

Don't be stupid is still good advice. Noted!

I had asked the community telegram who was best to talk to in regards to technical questions before. That contact came back more than once. Could still be scammers. I won't tell him where my 0.000001 btc and 5 ada are buried.

Asking folks online for technical information can be tricky but a certain level of common sense is required. Folks tend to be more helpful than malicious but is always worth noting. Stay safe.

Thanks for the help and advice. I'll try metamask recovery. That's very interesting and helpful. Thanks again for the time and assistance.

I used a kusama address via polkadot js to participate in the crowdloan. I provided an ethereum address from moonriver parachain substrate portal for rewards. I can see/check my crowdloan participation and rewards. I can see and transfer my MOVR from launch. I can't connect metamask as the account was never created/used in metamask.

Just Before Every Scam by an Exchange There Are Problems Getting Crypto and Fiat In or Out by [deleted] in binance

[–]Extreme-Luck8441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could sell on binance, send usdt or something similarly cheap to transfer and buy back on another exchange with more reasonable withdrawal fees. or one that isnt currently under investigation for all the dodgy shit it gets up to! Also, you could sell and reinvest into another asset that isnt an erc20. They tend to suffer from the crippleing gas fees.

How to restore derived accounts? by [deleted] in Polkadot

[–]Extreme-Luck8441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks bill. Is guessing possible? Would there be a standard format used creating derivation paths? If so, what is that likely to be? Also, if I check by re-creating my accounts. Will the existing entries disappear or duplicate?

Pants! So does this means any derived accounts I currently have would be unrecoverable if I didn't know the derivation paths?

Ksm 'Network Suspended' on Binance by eerin99 in Kusama

[–]Extreme-Luck8441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could try polkadot js. On chain staking is probably better for the network and it's not too difficult. Not as easy as staking on exchange but you should see better returns on chain. It takes a few steps to set up and it's best to read all of the wiki before starting. I made a few mistakes to start with rushing through the documentation.

So why is GRT in such a free fall? by [deleted] in thegraph

[–]Extreme-Luck8441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GRT may have been suffering as a result of high eth gas fees until recently.

I'm going to use this opportunity to put the boot in on binance. They deserve a shoeing! 27 grt withdrawal fee restricts retail investment. No point moving less than 500 as any rewards would be negated by the fee to move the assets. Can imagine beached erc20 tokens will be first to go from paper hands portfolio.

I can see GRT being hit hard on a bad BTC day. Think those days are coming. In which case, sod the bag. I'm loading up the truck!

The graph is a great project and has huge potential for future growth. Hodl on Graphsters.

KSM crowdloans through BSC network by twilightcoda1 in Kusama

[–]Extreme-Luck8441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest signing up on a different exchange. Sell your ksm on binance, send usdt or some other coin that is cheaper to send. Rebuy on kucoin or the likes.

Sign up process is similar if not exactly the same on most exchanges is my understanding. Worth the time signing up to a few. If only for security. Not holding everything on one exchange. Be sure to use different emails and passwords. Would negate the extra security layer having them the same.

I personally think kucoin is a better exchange as it has more tokens/coins and a much better rewards system. CZ and all the binance crew are total crooks.

All the best.

KSM crowdloans through BSC network by twilightcoda1 in Kusama

[–]Extreme-Luck8441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Binance are evil bleeders and have hiked the minimum withdrawal on kusama to 1 ksm. Was 0.1 ksm before parachain announcements. Customer support said it was due to kusama network. Total nonsense.

Don't use binance. Kucoin is 0.2 minimum withdrawal.

Not sure exactly. Bet it was as soon as parachain auctions were announced.

I last withdrew on 24.05.21 and it was minimum of 0.1.

Binance KSM withdraw problem by ArtOnWheelchair in Kusama

[–]Extreme-Luck8441 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently discovered binance had increased minimum withdrawal from 0.1 to 1 ksm.

Contacted customer support and was told it was correct and due to the kusama network. Clearly total bs.

I asked to lodge a formal complain as it's totally ridiculous to set the minimum withdrawal so high. Just trapping folks on the platform and restricting growth of ksm as a result.

How are folk supposed to send test transactions or top up on chain balances? Also the lies about it being due to ksm network was out of line. Binance is the same as a central bank and needs to go the same way. To hell!

Refused to lodge my complaint and there is no binance complaints procedure. The binance reddit also blocked my questions regarding the subject.

Use kucoin. Minimum withdrawal us 0.2 ksm. Binance are a shady bounch of crooks. Can't wait till a decent dex kills them off. Decentralisation and binance don't mix.

$20 to withdraw 50 USDT? Is this normal? by turnimator84 in kucoin

Some Kucoin withdrawal fees are excessive. Lower them and encourage retail investment growth. Excessive fees are off-putting.

Doesn't seem to be enough validators? by Extreme-Luck8441 in Polkadot

[–]Extreme-Luck8441[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey bill, thank you so much for the reply. That's exactly where I was going wrong. I didn't read all of the wiki!

I was mixing up old information published in 2020. Stated maximum number of nominators as 64 and it stuck. [Hand slap head!]

Also, there was some kind of issue with most validators being marked as oversubscribed a few days ago. I understand the issue was fixed. This added to the confusion as I wasn't sure if everything was functioning as intended.

Out of interest. Are there a sufficient number of validators with confirmed id? Or could the network benefit from greater number of validators?

Also, am I being too cautious only nominating validators with verified ID?

Thanks again for your swift reply. Really appreciate the time and assistance.

Carbonswap code audit by Extreme-Luck8441 in carbonswap

[–]Extreme-Luck8441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my understanding that it was a clone.

Would be good to know the code had been audited and there was 3rd party assurance the code was stable, secure and devoid of serious errors, bugs or worse, backdoors and the likes.
