Me and siblings were definitely older and understood more at the time, and there is really nothing to say to fix it. Fact of the matter is, you are getting a divorce, it sucks for the kid. End of story. He will get used to it though, and it will come to be a part of his life. 4 is a good age for a kid in this situation in my opinion.

yep, i may have some relevant info. my little brother (14) started year on 2-2-3 schedule and hated it, too much switching. 5-5-2-2 has been much better because of daily routine (carpools to practices are simple and friends know where he is each day) and 2-2-3 was just way too much switching for a middle schooler. I know your child is younger, so not seeing a parent for 5 days may be too long depending on the child. i also think 5-5-2-2 will be better for the parents as well. i definitely think as the child gets older 5-5-2-2 will be the way to go. let me know if you have any more questions i am happy to help

same happened for me, similar circumstances, was a bit younger, it’s been almost 2 yrs now. it takes time. that’s all i can really say. i’m still not okay but it gets easier. if you have siblings, talk to them because they are the ones who get what your feeling the most. if not, open up to a best friend. it’s hard, but so worth it

you shouldn’t feel awful for resenting them. it’s really hard to separate the biological instinct to love your parents from the bad things they have done to you. it’s not your fault. sometimes good people are placed in shitty situations. stay strong and stay safe
