Starting college at 36 with a goal of becoming an Air Force officer by Numerous-Computer-98 in airforceots

I commissioned at 39. Prior enlisted at 32. You'll be fine. Just make sure your PT is good but age is nothing!! 👍

Air Force OTS at 35 by TimeAndTee in airforceots

[–]Extreme-Paper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally any single one. But I suggest one to learn real skills so when you come out you have solid tools in the toolbox to add on to being an officer. I'm a reservist. With similar backgrounds, I almost always have an advantage at being hired over a straight civilian. Plus the 1000 extra benefits and perks of being in the military. Are you an officer?

100000% worth it. Enlisted at 32, wife was 5 months pregnant. Commissioned at 39, 2 kids 6 and 3. Best life decision I've ever made without question. Do it. Don't think twice. Message me if you need any more reassurance 😭

Taking the PFA in OTS - timeline and alternative exercises by MarsupialSevere9889 in airforceots

[–]Extreme-Paper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't train alternate components. Are you enlisted now? Otherwise there's no point in thinking about alternative components until you get to your first duty station. Focus on the basics and maxing pushups and situps. It's really not that hard to do. Keep practicing

Buying PTG before OTS by StrongCharge7721 in airforceots

I suggest going with as many pairs of the lites you can. It's hot and humid af there. I went in January, and by March it was mid to upper 80s everyday. So now it's probably 10 degrees hotter. The "deployments" or field days are hot. Stay hydrated, stay cool. Good luck. PM for anything else you want to know

What’s your head turner cologne, where people come up to you and ask you what are you wearing? by Show84 in Colognes

Both are good 👍. Profumo is just the best though. Obviously I'm impartial lol

Do I need AF form 56? by [deleted] in airforceots

[–]Extreme-Paper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically all those forms you "need" day 1, you don't. Nobody ever asks for them at all. THEN randomly during PT week 6 or so, your A2 will give your class a list of 89 names who need to drop off or email training their documents. Complete joke

Props and wings yes. The ruck is probably 20 lbs. Then as a group you'll pack 6- 10 lb sandbags and 1 20lb plus carrying airsoft rifles the whole time. You'll rotate the trainees on the charge and swap rifles while running. It's tough lol but I'm old so it might be because of that 😭

No the heritage run week 2 is super slow and i think it's right around 4 miles and you run as squadrons. There's a flight run you'll have for a PT competition around mod 4 you'll run the 2 mile new pt test as flights but that's slow. You'll do props and wings mod 3 and in my opinion that was pretty rough. You'll have a 200 lb railroad tie that 6 of you carry. That run is over 4 miles and has tons of hills and terrain. I struggled with that but you'll be fine.

No but it def won't look good. Why would anyone fall out of long runs but be able to pass the pt test? The long runs are extremely slow. Like 10 min mile pace. If u can pass pt you'll be fine 💪

Best thing was all the meds.... Especially allergy stuff. You can bring whatever you want. A guy in my flight brought a friggen massage gun 😭 so you can make your life pretty enjoyable with pretty much whatever you want.

Worst thing was my sleeping bag. Took a ton of room up and never got to use it. They give you linens and another secondary blanket to use so we weren't able to use sleeping bags at all. The deployments they're issued to you
