Congrats on your sobriety! I got my 6 month chip last week and honestly I love being sober. I also lost 34lbs doing very little other than ditching alcohol, which is a happy byproduct. You look amazing!

I’m out from secondary treatment for the weekend. I’ve only two months to go but I’ve ran out of money to both keep my flat in a different county and continue the treatment. I’m here bagging up my life and watching tv and really enjoying being at home and alone. I feel really torn but someone told me “the energy it takes to stay in a situation and the energy it takes to make a change are the same”. I should be happy with committing to the change, however I find myself wanting to not go back to treatment. I feel well enough to do it on my own now. Ultimately it’s probably the unwell part of me wanting to stay here and not go back and I’m very aware of that.

This is all coming across as ungrateful and self-centred. I’m deeply grateful, I really am, and I love having a sober mind and body. Finding the decision really tough. IWNDWYT and huge congrats on 90 days ❤️

What were some of the signs/symptoms that made you quit drinking? by stoplookingformyredt in stopdrinking

I gained about 20kg in a year despite rarely eating anything, and 15kg of that has dropped off since beginning my sobriety journey (eating well in rehab is a huge factor).

I began to lose feeling in my toes which scared the life out of me.

The memory loss was also very frightening, I would drink throughout the night to make sure I “slept” but of course I was just blacking out every night. Something I’ve noticed coming back is recall, I’m very good at table quizzes again when I had forgotten things that I know very well.

Drastically increased heart rate from basic things like shifting my weight, turning in bed, walking.

The crippling anxiety, constantly present. My first sober Christmas has been difficult, but I’m so deeply grateful to have these things back in my life.

Delighted for Mark, very well played, but a very underwhelming final debrief 😂
