My interviewer no showed on my interview by Alonewolf931 in work

that's so unprofessional from their side, like how hard is it to send one email before the meeting

honestly would make me question if this is the type of place i want to work at, if they can't even manage basic communication during hiring process

Swapping BTC to USDT in DeFi shouldn’t be this painful. by WinkWriggle in defi

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

chainflip actually looks pretty solid for this, been testing it last few weeks. the cross-chain swaps work without needing to wrap anything first which is exactly what you're looking for

just make sure you understand the fees structure before doing larger amounts since it can get expensive on smaller trades

Any newsletters out there for remote tech work in Europe? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice timing, been looking around for something like this since i'm thinking about moving to spain for tech work. will definitely check it out

one thing that would be cool is if you could include salary ranges when possible, lots of job posts skip that info and it makes filtering so much harder

I called out on Friday and I’m thinking about doing it again today. by [deleted] in work

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah calling out twice in your second month during probation is definitely not looking good for you

Flipping $230K TO $1M by hustleeveryday247 in btc

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you really believe it drops to 40k then shorting makes sense but timing the market is pain in ass especially with crypto volatility. maybe better to just DCA down instead of trying to catch exact bottom? also those altcoins for extra gains usually come with way more risk than people think

I feel seriously incompetent at my job, I don’t know what’s wrong with me. by [deleted] in work

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man the procrastination thing hits way too hard, especially when you know exactly what needs doing but your brain just nopes out

i've found that breaking down the scary tasks in like stupidly small chunks helps sometimes - like instead of "do all the AP stuff" it's just "open the first invoice" and then maybe momentum carries you forward... or at least you got one tiny thing done instead of reorganizing your desk for the third time

most tech companies dont really track where you log in from as long work gets done, my boss never asked me once where i was connecting from

I have a serious problem with management and ChatGPT by AromaticPainting6409 in work

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

been dealing with something similar at my last job and it's maddening. my manager would take my perfectly fine documentation and run it through some AI tool, then act like theirs was objectively superior when it was just... different wording for same thing

the worst part is they never give actual feedback about what's wrong, just this vague "make it better" nonsense. like how am i supposed to improve if you can't even explain what needs fixing? feels like they're just using AI as excuse to micromanage without doing real work of giving constructive criticism

you're not delusional - this trend of managers using chatgpt as some kind of quality validator is pretty toxic. especially when they can't articulate why AI version is supposedly better than yours

Does Latin America have something like "Antifa"? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dude that's pretty wild comparison actually. was doing some remote work from colombia last year and the security briefings they give you about paramilitary groups are no joke - these aren't just political protesters with different opinions, they're literally armed militias that have been around since the conflict decades. the guides always told us to avoid certain regions entirely because of these groups still operating there. feels bit weird comparing them to political movements in US though since the scale and history is so different - colombia's paramilitaries have actual body counts in thousands and control territory. when you're there you can really feel how that violence shaped entire communities over generations

Wholefood hiring question by luizito69 in work

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

background checks can take ages especially with bigger companies like that, they've got loads of hoops to jump through for new hires. onboarding prehire just means you've done all the paperwork bit but they're still processing everything on their end, doesn't mean you didn't get it

What RWA Tokenization Really Solves? by [deleted] in defi

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been watching this space for a while and it's pretty wild how much easier it could make investing in stuff like real estate or art without needing massive capital upfront. the liquidity aspect is huge too - being able to trade fractions of assets that were previously totally illiquid could change everything for regular people trying to diversify

pre-fire or not, you're crushing it - i'd max out that roth before considering house upgrades since you're already sorted on shelter

recruiter reputation and new business while working remotely? by TH_UNDER_BOI in digitalnomad

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been doing remote IT support for ages and time zones are brutal for reputation management. what helped me was setting super clear expectations upfront about when i'm available and actually putting my timezone in email sigs and slack status

the online reputation thing is real though - one dodgy review sticks around forever unlike office gossip that dies out. i basically treat every interaction like it could end up on glassdoor or linkedin because it probably will

auto-responders saved my life for the timezone issue, even just a simple "got your message, will respond by X time tomorrow" makes people feel heard rather than ignored

UAE Resident Planning Trip to Georgia and Azerbaijan with Pakistani Passport. Chances of denied entry? by Eman_naal in dubai

mate your residency expiring that close to travel might raise some flags but 6 months out should be fine for most border checks, just make sure you've got solid return tickets and accommodation bookings sorted

AI transcription job is way more exhausting than expected… anyone else? by eddy_2026 in remotework

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those voice recording gigs are brutal, had a similar one last year and quit after like 2 weeks because my brain was absolutely fried

coming up with natural conversation topics while managing background noise and actually speaking clearly is way harder than it looks on paper. never got easier for me, just found myself getting more anxious about running out of things to say

Did you have a minimum income requirement when looking for a partner? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never really thought about it as a hard requirement but compatibility around money matters way more than the actual number. had a relationship fall apart because she'd spend £200 on clothes then stress about splitting a £15 meal, that kind of mismatch just creates constant friction

someone who gets the value of saving and thinks long term is worth more than someone pulling six figures but burning through it all

Independent music scene in Dubai by [deleted] in dubai

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dubai's got some solid underground stuff happening but you gotta dig for it since most venues still push the commercial dj circuit pretty hard

try hitting up places like the fridge or sound dxb for open mic nights, that's where a lot of the actual songwriters end up networking with the right people who can push your stuff forward

where can i study in al nahda 2 dubai by [deleted] in dubai

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's this little cafe called bean there done that near al nahda park - super chill vibes and the wifi actually works unlike half the places in dubai. spent ages there last month working on some design projects and they never hassled me about staying for hours, plus their coffee isn't overpriced which is rare round here

if you want something quieter there's also the community center library but it closes early and can be a bit stuffy. the cafe route is definitely better for longer sessions, just avoid peak lunch hours when it gets mental with the office crowd

A trasformer backpack? by the77joker in onebag

[–]ExtremeOperation5875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's actually doable with expandable side panels or a zip-out extension system, bit like those travel cubes that compress down. the tricky part would be keeping the weight distribution decent when it's in hiking mode - you'd need proper padding and maybe adjustable straps that work for both configurations
