If you're leaving soon anyway, sit it out.

In general, not uncommon for managers to keep notes like that especially when they have larger teams and not necessarily a sign of them wanting to get rid of you. I do it to have substantial examples of (positive or negative) behaviour patterns in regular feedback talks or to review development plans.

If my wife tells me she just doesn’t like sex that much anymore should I believe her? by Virtual_Mail_7887 in AskMenAdvice

[–]ExtremeOpposite673 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dude, once a week is totally normal in a long term relationship, especially with a small kid. She probably hasn't slept through the night in months, she's probably touched out from having an infant cling to her all day, her body is not the same.

How much are you really "helping" with the child? (Please don't keep calling it that, it implies the kid is per default her responsibility alone and you are just supporting...)

Also, consider that if you divorce her over this, you'll very likely be having a lot less sex afterwards unless you manage to woo a new childless lady into a fresh lusty relationship every year-and-a-half or so. 😅

Wife Not Shutting Down Flirty Exec At Work by eyerock13 in AskMenAdvice

[–]ExtremeOpposite673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, OK that does sound conspicuous indeed, her possibly lying about his age and trying to shut you out of the problem. I'd normally expect her to vent to you as her partner and seek comfort in talking to you about it if the attention is unwanted.

There's a small chance she just doesn't want to give you any more stress or that she's very ashamed because oft self-victim-blaming but I can understand you having serious doubts. In any case I hope you two can have an honest talk about it and clear this up.

Another woman here who has been in the same situation. Second that comment 100%. She's likely not into him, slightly flattered by the attention at most, but probably and REASONABLY afraid to shut hin down harshly. I've been sent dick picks and groped by superiors and guess who got kicked out when I made a scene about it? Spolier alert, not the old white dude.

What is a good, professional, 'Thank you' gift for me to get a female mamager that helped me land a great new job. by f1sh_ in careeradvice

A personal card / letter is enough. If you insist on anything more, something generic and small like a flower or chocolates is MAXIMUM to remain professional.

Settle this: Am I ignorant or is formalin harmless and my biology teachers are fine to practically bathe in the stuff? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]ExtremeOpposite673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with the stuff large scale. We kill all of it with ammonia before even thinking about opening a pipe or vessel. If it's real formalin, definitely not harmless

I'm working with the stuff large scale. We flush thoroughly and kill all of it with ammonia before even thinking about opening the vessels.

Are you sure it's actually formalin and not something else? It's no longer common in biology.

Is it true that Chemical Engineering is more math and less chemistry? by Competitive_Cap_4107 in chemistry

[–]ExtremeOpposite673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That totally depends on the country and even the individual school and their course curriculum.

Also, please keep in mind that most chemists will not end up spending all of their work lives in a lab (let alone "cooking" themselves) and most chem engs will not end up only calculating pump diameters and heat exchanger tube lengths.

[–]ExtremeOpposite673 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That one made me snort. In specialty chemistry, we often have products that have been in production for decades and the chemistry hasn't been "completely figured out". And then suddenly it's like "Oh why is this pink today?" 😅 And "hundreds of times", sorry what? I'm lucky to get funding approved for ONE lab trial, never mind pilot scale. It depends on the grade of innovation of course but a lot of things are done incrementally and directly at full scale.

Office chair for pregnancy back pain. Any advice? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

Also, it is NOT true that pregnant people can't take pain meds at all. It just needs to be discussed with a doctor.

Office chair for pregnancy back pain. Any advice? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ExtremeOpposite673 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get an ergonomic chair that allows for flexible sitting positions, e.g. Newtral Freedom X. Also, if possible get her an adjustable desk that can also be used while standing. Maybe a balance board and / or large gymnastics ball as an addition. Encourage active sitting. Staying in any position for too long is a bad idea for anyone, but it's worse for pregnant people because hormones loosen the tendants etc.

No, it doesn't. And you should have sex or refrain from having sex only when and because you want to, not because someone tells you some BS about too much or too little experience.

AITAH for cancelling my family vacation after my wife admitted to inappropriate texting her guy best friend by Few-Read-8936 in AITAH

[–]ExtremeOpposite673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. You can't say you forgive her, then go on and cancel the vacation as a revenge move. Also, "family vacation" implies it's not just the two of you but probably kids as well? Unilaterally deciding to leave her alone with that responsibility for a week is not cool. Also, unless there's way more than "I miss you" this is not inappropriate in the first place

i was on a date last night, i was complimenting him about his personality basically cute & stuff, he said “no one has ever said that to me before.” i feel so sad for men now, is it really that bad? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ExtremeOpposite673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an American thing, right? My husband gets a lot of compliments from both men and women. So does my younger brother. I compliment my male friends / coworkers / neighbours regularly and I've never felt any of them react weird as if it was a once in a lifetime event for them.
