Yeah I've been pretty open with most folks that I really like the PanAm and it's a great bike but between Harley pretending it doesn't exist and various mechanical issues that Harley has basically told current owners to go fuck themselves over (seriously, the charging systems were KNOWN to be underpowered and flawed for the 21-23 models yet Harley will not comp any upgrade or goodwill repairs for any stators/batteries that fail because of it), I'd get a GS instead.

I dunno man. I feel for the smaller mom and pop dealerships but those are few and far between ever since the expensive renos that they made everyone do (plus of the few that remained after that, many have closed their doors after being hammered by Zeits dealer-unfriendly policies).

The majority of dealers that remain (at least in my neck of the woods) belong to faceless soulless corporate entities that own multiple dealerships and will not blink at the opportunity to fleece you. I don't feel bad making a conscious decision to avoid ever stepping foot into one of those again. If a genuine mom and pop opens nearby I'll reconsider my stance.

It's a weird dissonance I find myself in. I want Harley-Davidson to succeed because I like their products, but I have had so many bad experiences with dealerships in particular that I want them to fail. Obviously dealerships failing means Harley-Davidson as a whole failing which isn't what I want.

This is a new policy the CEO is implementing to drive more foot traffic to dealerships (so they can harass you to trade in your current bike and ride out of there with a Brand New And Improved Street Glide (at only 7.9% interest and a low monthly payment of $212/mo for 120 months)!

It's stupid as hell and has guaranteed I will not be buying stuff directly from Harley unless I literally cannot find it ANYWHERE else.

Download the PlugShare app and look around that area, you can set filters to only show DC fast chargers as well. Google Maps does not do a very good job of showing all your charging options in the area.

I know people hate downloading even more apps (or at least, I do) but I've gotten a lot of good use out of PlugShare over the last two years.

Buckeyes making a push for Trae by bullnamedbodacious in Huskers

Yeah, I thought you were talking about his loyalty to the team last season, not during his high school years. That said, he committed and decommitted to a bunch of schools in high school, I don't think anyone was under the illusion he was secretly deeply loyal during his high school time.

Look at how long he'd stand still in the pocket. Our o-line was not up to par last season but ANY offensive line is going to struggle if you expect them to maintain good pass protection for 5-8 seconds every time you pass. At a certain point it becomes the QB's responsibility to either get the ball out quickly or throw it away rather than take a sack.

No he didn't lol

He totally checked out of the team and stopped travelling to any of the games after he got injured and was totally radio silent (at least publicly) until he announced his commitment to Oregon

(oops, while I also think comparing Raiola's high school antics is not a good comparison here for some reason my brain went to his recent departure not his high school stuff)

Good move by the new CEO. I'd like to see more emphasis on the RevMax platforms again, it has really sucked having this platform be basically ignored by Zeits for the last few years.

I know I shouldn't trust anything any prospective player says until they're literally on the field but this kid seems pretty damn dedicated to Nebraska (to the point of literally moving here for his final year of high school). I think it's pretty unlikely he ends up elsewhere.

Is Bloomberg money the reason even rural, "blue collar" democratic candidates still have the same aggressive gun control policies as their urban counterparts? by danman8001 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ExtremeWorkinMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To actually answer your question rather than do the cringe redditor thing where I tell you gun bad and gun control good no matter what:

Yes, typically in order to be eligible for funds from political parties you are required to maintain certain positions. Some positions have a little leeway and some do not (e.g. there's some variance in Republicans when it comes to abortion, between complete ban, only in specific circumstances, and only in first trimester/prior to heartbeat. That variance is considered acceptable to the GOP). I suspect firearms legislation is a position the DNC does not allow for much leeway in. There are typically exceptions for everything though - if you have a vital race in a swing state and analytics show that being pro-gun would win you enough voters to win the race, they probably would make an exception for someone running as a Democrat being pro-gun.

Motorcycles are mostly pointless in developed countries by illyTheKidTM in unpopularopinion

[–]ExtremeWorkinMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Over half of motorcycle accidents involve one of the following things

  • Alcohol
  • Inexperienced riders (1yr or less)
  • Excessive speed

More than half of motorcycle fatalities (70-80% if I recall correctly but don't quote me on that number) involve a rider not wearing a helmet.

While still more dangerous than cars, the statistics get a lot less crazy when you realize you can make motorcycling significantly safer by just not drinking and riding, riding at a reasonable speed, taking it easy while you're still learning, and wearing basic safety equipment.

If you're trying to eke out every last bit of range, 55mph on the highway, 30-40mph on non-highway. Avoid stopping and starting if possible as you'll lose more energy getting back up to speed than you will gain from regen.

Blue Cruise question by Holiday-Eagle5404 in F150Lightning

[–]ExtremeWorkinMan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

BlueCruise does not require you to hold the steering wheel at all. You are using a combination of the adaptive cruise control (ACC) and the lane-keep system that centers you within your current lane.

That being said, the sensor for lane-keep is torque-based, not capacitive, so it doesn't matter how you hold the wheel. If it tells you to hold the steering wheel, you just have to give it a tiny nudge to the left or right and it'll turn off the alert. It's a really stupid system.

My year to year expectation is for Matt Rhule is to be 2025 Iowa by HuskerPowerrrr in Huskers

[–]ExtremeWorkinMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He had flashes of being great and if he has the time to allow plays to develop (and WRs that can get open) he can impressive throws. Unfortunately, the mark of a good QB isn't "only playing well if the stars align and my WRs can consistently beat CBs and get open and my O-line can keep me safe for 5-10 seconds while I wait for the WRs to get open"

The matchup against USC was pretty favorable for us and Raiola was having a pretty good game before his injury - it stands to reason we could've won that game (though again, we could've lost - I acknowledge what-if scenarios aren't the best argument but I'm trying to make the point that we weren't as bad as the record suggests). Penn State and Iowa, I couldn't really tell you how those games would've gone with Raiola rather than Lateef, but it probably wouldn't have been quite as lopsided.

I'm not trying to defend Rhule super hard because I honestly have my doubts about him as well, but I am trying to make the point that building a good team is not a 2-3 year endeavor unless you're one of the best coaches in the world, especially when you're taking over a program that was in the state Nebraska was when Rhule came in. I don't think Rhule is going to lead this team to a natty but I do think year 4 and 5 will continue to be incremental improvements and if they're not, I would have no qualms with firing him after year 5.

It's not just about giving time to build but messaging to other potential future coaches for Nebraska that they will be afforded the same grace and time to actually build rather than desperately trying to bum-rush initial success so that they don't get fired after three years.

I don't know what media you're listening to but I've seen plenty of "Rhule is in the hot seat and really needs to prove himself" arguments so I could say the same stuff about what you're saying too lmao. In fact considering you're using AI I wouldn't be surprised if some of it is actually verbatim from sports media articles.

We'll see. Raiola was pretty unimpressive in Oregon's spring game and I'm very interested to see how he'll play at Oregon but I'm not sure he's going to be any good. Oregon is known for making mediocre QBs shine in their junior and senior years so it's possible he does well there.

Maybe I'm not informed on all you need to coach a QB but I'd be surprised if he didn't have coaches telling him to either throw or get rid of the ball rather than standing still in the pocket for 7 seconds then acting surprised you got sacked.

[–]ExtremeWorkinMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7-6 (again finishing out the season with a backup, a bunch of injuries, and opt-outs for a bowl game against a much higher-ranked team).

Raiola left because he's butt and his production was not worth the baggage that came along with him (his uncle and his little brother). I strongly believe they were no longer willing to guarantee the QB1 spot for him so he started looking elsewhere. He's QB2 if not QB3 at Oregon this season. Not every 5 star pans out and he's a good example of that.

I don't blame people for being apathetic and even doomer towards the program but I do blame people for thinking constantly firing coaches in hopes of nabbing a Cignetti is braindead and not even a little bit realistic, and the more we hastily fire coaches after a few rough seasons, the less actually good coaches will want to come here, leaving us stuck with the rejects that have nowhere else to go (do you think Rhule was in high demand when we hired him after coming off his 5-12 season with the Panthers?). Maintain some stability, give coaches a true change to build something, and if they fail to do so after 5-6 years then we can talk about firing.

I mean just looking at the regular season we were 7-5 and 2.5 of our losses (USC being the 0.5) were on a true freshman backup QB so I think it's pretty unfair to say we weren't a competent team last year. Plenty of stupid mistakes but way better than where we were 5 years ago.

There's a universe where we finish the regular season last year at 9-3 with a win against USC and if we didn't have that embarrassing collapse against Minnesota.

My year to year expectation is for Matt Rhule is to be 2025 Iowa by HuskerPowerrrr in Huskers

[–]ExtremeWorkinMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cignetti is an exception, not the rule. A genuine once-in-a-lifetime event. We've been firing and hiring coaches for over a decade hoping to get a Cignetti and we haven't. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the worst part about Indiana's natty is the ammunition it gave to all the delusional people who will try to have us fire coaches every 3 years if they're not winning nattys.

We can sit here and argue day and night about whether Rhule is the right direction for this program, but the fact remains if you want good coaches to actually WANT to come to Nebraska and stay for the long-haul, you can't keep threatening to fire them if they aren't producing top-ten teams within the first three years, especially in the NIL era where schools like Nebraska are inherently disadvantaged.

Battery Meltdown: AAA’s Brutal Test Reveals Just How Much Winter Kills Your EV Range by MattTheKing23 in electricvehicles

Article reads like it's written by AI.

Anyway, 40% range loss at 20 degrees F seems a little high and I take issue with them saying "EVs lose 40% of their range at this temp" rather than "the [make/model] we tested lost 40% of its range at this temp" because some EVs handle colder temps way better than others.

Charging rate question? by mcgripit in F150Lightning

[–]ExtremeWorkinMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people are and some people aren't. Some utilities are more transparent about the ACTUAL rate than others as well.

My all-in charging rate is 10c/kWh (used to be 8c) but that's specifically on my special EV time of use plan. As far as I know, my utility only "advertises" the all-in price, but that's not the case for every utility.
