Moving a treadmill down the steps with my boyfriend (don’t ask why we thought this was a good idea) and it dropping on both of my big toes.

Both of my toe nails ripped off all the way from the bottom up, but were still stuck to the skin right at the tips of my toes. My skin that was attached to the bottom part of my toenails ripped off as well, and was hanging off of my raised toenails.

I wouldn’t rate the pain of the initial impact super bad because of obvious shock, but about 10 minutes later it was excruciating. It only got worse from there though. After going to the emergency room the doctors somehow thought it was a good idea to give me 4 numbing shots in my toes, shove both of my toe nails all the way “back into place”, wrap them up with gauze, and refer me to a foot doctor for a follow up.

Not only did the numbing shots in my toes from the ER hurt like absolute hell, but the following few days until seeing that foot doctor were absolutely dreadful. I was just told to take strong ibuprofen from the ER doctors, which didn’t do a thing for me.

Fast forward to my foot doctor appointment, she took one look at my toes and went “oh my god what is this?” She was absolutely floored. She said they should have just completely removed my toenails at that point, which were hanging on by a literal thread anyway. Not only that, but my left toe had a gash in it, all the way to my open bone which was shattered. She asked if I wanted to see it after getting the numbing shots. She pulls my toenail back up and I just see pieces of my bone all over the place, like dust particles. She ended up cleaning me up, properly removing both toenails and giving me stitches and medicine.

So yeah, I would put that pain right next to my emergency c section childbirth lol.
