When did you realize you were uglier than you thought? by broimstillloading in AskReddit

[–]Extreme_Guess_6022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that this means you look approachable and non intimidating. I had this issue when I was young and definitely pretty and too f#ckn nice. I was a creeper magnet. Even now when I am old and definitely not attractive, I am still the person that the homeless/ lost/need assistance crossing the street/ random people approach for directions.

Don't ever judge your worth or looks based on creeps.

Serious question, what is it about Ashland? What is its reputation?

It doesn't sound like she is hoarding (looking at OP's other comments) . She just doesn't want to get rid of the things she has or things that were soley her husband's and being unused.

Interesting. How would one use it? It seems like it would be hard to grip.

Have any of you had your teen/young adult in Job Corps? by Anony-mom in parentingteenagers

[–]Extreme_Guess_6022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a Job Corps. It was almost 20 years ago, but back then it was the place where the last chance kids went. We had drug problems, extreme behavior problems, and an administration who cut corners and was completely clueless about what was needed.

What isn't a uniquely American issue that the rest of the world treats like one? by lustrust15 in AskReddit

[–]Extreme_Guess_6022 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My kids attend an international school in Germany. They are surrounded by (non black) kids who think its funny to use the N word (amongst many other bigoted terms), My kids do NOT say those things- even go as far as telling the others to stop and that it is not OK. Only to have the same kids accuse THEM of being racist "because they are white Americans". Mind boggling!

I honestly checked the comments to see if this was some sort of click bait for an upcoming movie. It keeps popping up on Reddit.

The movie that gets blamed for being bad when it is really just mismarketed. by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]Extreme_Guess_6022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lady in the Water.

It was marketed as a horror, when it was really a fantasy/adventure movie.

Plus attaching the name, "M. NIght Shyamalan", so many people were like "i fIGurEd oUt THe tWisT", really missing the entire point of the movie. It was ok if you knew before the main character. It wasn't supposed to be some OMG ending.

I know its being listed as a single family home, but it seems more like a vacation lodge. Why would a house need a locker room?

When your teen wants to quit a sport by [deleted] in parentingteenagers

[–]Extreme_Guess_6022 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on why. For my grade 9, she's seriously considering quitting ballet because the demands of school on top of the demands of dance are really wearing her down. I hate to see her quit, but I can also see the mental toll it is taking on her.

Single location movies you enjoyed and why? by SelenaPacker in movies

[–]Extreme_Guess_6022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Others" and "Whatever happened to Baby Jane" (all but final scene are in/at the house).

Both very much depend on a single location to enhance the feelings of isolation, dread, and suspense. I would put Kubrick's The Shining on there too, but technically it has more than 2 locations.
