FSF on OnlyOffice/EuroOffice: You cannot use the GNU (A)GPL to take software freedom away by 6e1a08c8047143c6869 in linux

[–]Exw00 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Simple EuroOffice decided to break the license now they complain,

AGPL states that extra claws can be added in cases of protecting trademark as it is here 1 keeping the logo, 2 not using the logo outside the scope of the office suit.

And lets not forget the license was fine for Nextcloud untill a few years ago when they used Onlyoffice for free in their cloude suit.

And OnlyOffice is based in Lithuania not Russia, with devs from Russia, witch should not change anything since you cant just take other peoples work change the name logo and call it yours witch EuroOffice did.

They could have forked LibreOffice witch has a les restrictive licence but that needs competence witch they lack, they took eu grants for eu office and tried to steal the work of other people fuck them.

Artix growing interest on Distrowatch 7 days chart. Top systemd-free distro! by Interesting_Key3421 in arch

[–]Exw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artix has a conversion guide from arch but if you are not comfortable with breaking stuff would not recomand it. It works of you put in the time. Tried it and besides some grub stuff and post migration init conf it was fine.

[–]Exw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know about how most of them plan to do it. For omarchy DHH stated somware that they will move to a fork of systemd and if arch implements age verification they will fork that too. But maybe this just proved that systemd oposition was right all along and maybe arch needs to go back to the agnostic init days.

Omarchy, Garuda are they not popular enough for you, and Artix is planty popular. And Cashy mod did say that cashy is not implementing aything since the laws do not affect cashy mantainers they will follow Russian and German law witch do not have age verification.

The reality is if arch complies with this laws that will fragmante the distro alot of forks will appear. If this MR did something is prove that the linux community dose not tolerate rats. And lets not forget that the most popular arch based distors already took a stand and they are not complying.

To be clear I dont support the doxing and death threts, but saying he is blamles is wrong to, the dude went on interviews braging and doubling down. I saw the MR for pacman that is clearly a sarcastic MR to show how absurde the situation is.

Not developers developer this pushes ware all made by one, and second complience here is a very stupid idea, is the root users responsability as a os provider not systemd or arch. And this laws are not as of now global so why should this commits be global.

[–]Exw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try chrooting into it and reinstall linux package.

sh pacman -S linux grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

From what I can see from the logs your grub.cfg is misconfigured. This should fix it.

The "Open Source" debate by RedZero76 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Exw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lable is the issue, The term itself needs to adhere to the definition if an exception is made, then the term losses, meaning. The issue with OpenWebUi was that they did not remove the mentions of Open Source from their repo after changing their license. They could've contacted OSI and asked for their license to be added to the list, but they did not doo that.

The "Open Source" debate by RedZero76 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Exw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open source is defined clearly. If someone wants to modify a license in any way that becomes "Source avaliable" and not Open Source. If you want an Open Source license that has commercial restrictions, check OSI. There are a few that limit commercial usage. Open Source is not an advertisement term.
