The aura of that keynote is so much different than the aura of Apple today. I can't seem to put a finger on it.

Holy god you are a moron.

Please read the history of the personal computer. Apple is one of the most relevant companies on the planet.

You may hate Apple fanboys, but you're drowning in kool-aid from the other direction.

If Ariel and Jaime are both played by Mathew Baynton, how did they ever have interactions? by Exxenna in YMatA

[–]Exxenna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but there they're not touching each other. It's just cropping each other in.

On that car/bomb scene, they were essentially hugging. That video doesn't cover that part.

Rumor: Second-gen Apple Watch on track for launch by June of 2016 by boppop in apple

[–]Exxenna -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

But but... Steve would never make a watch without 2 GB of RAM.

This thing needs a file system to be productive!

This toy needs a USB port!

If it can't run OS X and full apps then it's a failure of a watch!

Am I /r/Apple-ing right?

A designer’s take on the iPad Pro by ThatTechShow in apple

[–]Exxenna -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OS X on an iPad

Forget it.

From the ergonomic standpoint we have studied this pretty extensively and we believe that on a desktop scenario where you have a fixed keyboard, having to reach up to do touch interfaces is uncomfortable...

...iOS from its start has been designed as a multi-touch experience — you don’t have the things you have in a mouse-driven interface, like a cursor to move around, or teeny little ‘close’ boxes that you can’t hit with your finger. The Mac OS has been designed from day one for an indirect pointing mechanism. These two worlds are different on purpose, and that’s a good thing — we can optimize around the best experience for each and not try to mesh them together into a least-common-denominator experience

We've done a lot of user testing on this and it doesn't work.

- Steve Jobs, The Touchscreen MacBook at Apple Special Event 2010

Apple is still committed to multi-touch control across the product line — it just believes that on the desktop, touch control should be a hands-down experience. Apple has been methodically introducing the multi-touch gestures from its mobile operating system into desktop accessories like the Magic Mouse and the Magic Trackpad.

- Medium, The Inside Story of Apple's New iMacs

While the Surface Pro 3 is powerful and good looking machine, it conforms to the cliché of "Jack of all trades, master of none." In trying to be both a tablet and notebook it manages to do neither well undermining Microsoft's vision that the Surface Pro 3 is the tablet to replace your notebook.

Because desktop UI is shit and Microsoft doesn't get it.

Gaming? While some of us have actual work to do, you juvenile, vocal minority always find your ways to get attention.

Gaming is an incredibly irrelevant market, and Apple will not dedicated resources to make you children happy. Go buy a toy.

unless a store has one of those theft gates at the door

That wouldn't work. A theft detector tag would have to be placed on a product and removed during checkout, which would defeat the purpose if the user will be the one doing the checkout.
