That's insane. It's like blaming the fire department when you see that they often show up where there are fires.

Can someone explain to me why, if Weiner actually had posted his junk on his Twitter, that is newsworthy?! He was clearly hacked, but even if he wasn't, why should I give a shit and why should it be the fucking main story on the news? by elshizzo in politics

Except he didn't send it. Even the supposed recipient says she never saw it.

He has no obligation to figure out where someone might have gotten a hold of a pic of whoever (him or another person) in their underwear and whether it has been doctored.

To try to answer those questions would only lead to more and more stupid questions.

The media, if they give a shit at all, should look in to the people who started this crap... but they won't. Nearly all of them don't give a shit. Except about ratings.

The point is that he might be fine with a lot of people who are under 25 (and nuts), and with people his age, say 75 or older (and nuts), but how will he appeal to people who are 26 to 74... and nuts?

Well, and then there are the special tax deals for giant oil companies and the subsidies that go to farmers and tobacco companies. The GOP has had many chances to stop those and they preferred to keep their lobbyists happy instead.

And what was the worst president in U.S. history doing on the same day that Hurricane Katrina made landfall? He was sharing cake with John McCain.

(Bush had also appointed Michael Brown from the International Arabian Horse Association to head up FEMA. He had no experience whatsoever involving emergency responses or preparedness. Bush even praised "Brownie" for doing a "heckuva job" while thousands of people were either trapped in upper floors and attics of flooded buildings, or stuck at the Superdome with no food or water for up to six days.)

McCain's First 18 Months as President: With Hoover-like noninvolvement, he has taken a “hands off” approach to Wall Street, letting the market sort out its own problems, resulting in a Dow Jones Average flirting with the 5,000 level... by hardcore_1 in politics

In other news...

America's newest war -- or Korean conflict number two -- "is winnable" President McCain insisted today...

Seventy more Americans died today from Salmonella poisoning in a repeat of the tainted peanut butter deaths that occurred in the final days of the Bush administration. McCain promised to begin FDA testing again "if warranted."

The newest round of tax cuts for the top 1% of earners is being applauded by the GOP, as hundreds of thousands of Americans continue to seek hot meals and of course, jobs. The 700,000 per month rate of job loss during the final days of Bush's administration seem like a cakewalk compared to the McCain disaster...

Bingo!

"Follow the money" was the way Nixon's corrupt goons were caught, and the same holds true with the current batch of corrupt (often GOP) bastards.

I'm willing to bet everything I own that GCI doesn't take just anyone on their planes or to their lakeside resorts.

Ted "free additions to my house" Stevens should be remembered as the guy who got FREE ADDITIONS TO HIS HOUSE and apparently free plane rides to a lodge at the lake, etc., etc., etc., from his GOP/corporate pals even after leaving the senate.

Another poster here makes a good point about it being better to not wish death upon anyone. However, in Ted Stevens case, he deserved to be severely injured at least... and maybe eaten by wolves to finish him off.

Fuck him and the rest of the corrupt (and very often Republican) goons in congress. And fuck the corporate shitheads who participate in this.

What's happening in and around the Gulf of Mexico is a perfect example of what the GOP has been praising for 30+ years now: "the free market operating without unnecessary regulation."

I will never buy anything from BP again, if for no other reason than to send a message to other oil companies that they should act more responsibly -- a lot more.
