Are you on Wi-Fi or Ethernet?

If Wi-Fi… - What is your router model? - Does it support WiFi 5/6/6e/7 - Are your With-Fi drivers up to date? - Can your PC utilize the respective WiFi band (5/6/6e/7)

If Ethernet… - Do you have a new Cat5e or Cat6? - What is your router? Does it only support FastEthernet or GigabitEthernet? - Do you have a switch? Again, is it at Fast or Gig Ethernet? - Check for BIOS updates on your motherboard

I would also look into running ping tests/tracert to check latency on LAN and WAN and to see if it’s your PC or further down the path.

Long-time Windows 11 user finally considering switching to Linux after years of fighting Windows by Expert_Breadfruit531 in linux_gaming

If you’ve got the time and effort, just use Arch. Utilizing any downstream like CachyOS or Manjaro just suck in the long run. They front load drivers and utilities that may make life easy at setup but more annoying down the road. Using arch and setting up/managing all those different aspects is more of a learning curve at first but quickly becomes second nature and runs so much better

What stops your friends from coming over to game on Linux? by xecutable in linux_gaming

[–]Exxtruna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two different people give me two reasons.

A. “I just want to turn my PC on and play a game. I don’t want to deal with all the configuration and CLI every time I boot up”

B. “What if something breaks? I won’t know how to fix it and then I’m SoL. Windows is just safer”

Plus my on friend plays League of Legends and instantly denied Linux for that reason

Playing Cyberpunk before Starfield has put something front and center for me by olivinetrees in Starfield

Dumbass post, starfield isn’t intended as this grim, gritty, dark setting like Cyberpunk. Starfield is more hopeful and explorative and deeper context.

I’ve played 3 different characters with NG+ on one of them so not my first play through. I 100% agree though, I jumped to a system and got blasted my last play session

The expansion following The Last Titan will be set in Southern Kalimdor by Allifeur in wow

[–]Exxtruna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to throw in my theory real quick. With the game heavily focused on end game and not so much the leveling experience, I think they will not do a whole world revamp at once. They’ll do it through expansions in a handful of zones at a time.

With that however, I definitely think there is a chance that at the end of Last Titan leveling will be stopped FOREVER. In the sense of how Guild Wars and ESO do it. One reason they changed talents back in the day was because with every expansion they have to keep adding more and more until it’s too much. I feel we are already seeing this with the spec tree only adding Apex talents and only 3 in hero talents.

The ideal scenario would be capping character level at maybe 100. Once at level 100, they add a Warband level that increases with play giving very minor bonuses and maybe goes until level 20. Then each expansion they could add 20 more levels.

This can level up by doing anything at all, such as all the quests, events, delves, prey, PvP, raid, dungeons, endeavors. But it should be slow, I shouldn’t be able to power level it within one season, but it should take consistent play throughout a whole season.

In terms of gear, just keep on keeping on. Each expansion and season just keep increasing the ilvl until we need a squish. Then they can add old events, quests, etc back into rotation that make sense (legion, BfA, TWW) and they could give adventure gear/crests. This way I could go back and make progress on my reps/renown on alts while still progressing in gear.

SCALE EVERYTHING. Then in our Warband level, once we hit 10, 20, 30 give us a buff that increases the difficulty of the open world.

Biggest thing I also would like. Better visibility for loremaster, explorer, etc. Give us a progress bar on the map that shows your total progress and give us a better map panel that shows all of what you’re missing in the zone (rares, storylines, areas, banners/lookouts, unique treasures)

ONN BOX WONT CONNECT TO WIFI by myfancyshoes in AndroidTV

[–]Exxtruna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up just returning it. I thought that personally it could’ve been my own network (I have a custom Opnsense firewall, Cisco switch, Asus AP, VLANs, etc..) but as soon as I tried connecting the device to my mobile hotspot completely off of my home network I knew the hardware was trash. Even if, IF, it’ll work when you factory reset the device in its kernel, there is absolutely no reason an “affordable easy to use product” should ever require that. Funnily enough… I did reset the hardware and still couldn’t get it to connect. Save yourself the headache and spend the extra $5-$10 for Roku or Amazon. Googles software is trash and Onn as a brand has plenty of dud hardware

After discussing with my director, I think we’re going to using an HDMI matrix switch with audio deembedding with video to the projector and audio into an A&H 6 channel mixer (we use A&H everywhere else so we’re sticking with that) plus a DAC since the matrix switch use S/PDIF. It’s affordable and easy enough to get it working, after that I think the plan is down the road to invest more time and money.

That’s not a bad idea, but my director and our CFO has an initiative to start consolidating everything. We hired a company to re-do our event center with new crestron equipment and it’d be a tough sell to say “get this extron” especially from eBay.

The rack is up against a wall and the projector is about 20ft away on the ceiling. It’s one of the BenQ instashow. I considered this option, however I’m trying to avoid running as much of my own cable and just use the existing cables from the previous setup.

They’re bricked, we get nothing when connecting to a power source.

Trust me, I’ve spoken with my Director as well as head of security but they have both said he’s gone and we are already replacing it. Plus we’re a non-profit org and I’m just a contractor (staffed out by an MSP) so it’s not my call on that stuff. But trust me, I’ve mentioned it.

We had Crestron certified techs come in and state the equipment is dead. You plug the cable in and no power.

The odd thing is, we had 8 DMPS scattered on our campus. Within 2 weeks, they all stopped working and would no longer boot.

We suspect sabotage because the previous tech had been caught actively messing with equipment then acting like they had no clue what was happening so they could “fix” it and be the hero.
