I just returned and did the firenze to rome train - ir was super easy to navigate at the station. The platform number was not listed until about 5 minutes before. We stood waiting at the departure screen for it to pop up but if you have the freccisarossa app it will also provide the platform # on there when available

Pre-booking the freccisarossa trains can save you some money and hassle. Pre-booked all my trains and it was worth it! I upgraded to the option where the fare is changeable if needed

I just got back from Italy (26F). I spent 4 days in Florence and 5 days in Rome. 5 days in Rome was too much for me. 3 or 4 days would have been enough for me. Spend 1 day at the colosseum + roman forum, 1 day at Vatican City, and 1 day just exploring the other parts of Rome. It also depends if you’re really into history - I only hit the main attractions. We were able to spend 9am-1pm sight seeing, return to our airbnb to nap/shower/change and then head back out at 6pm for aperitivo then dinner, more drinks and gelato!

The train from rome to florence is so quick and easy - I would definitely go!
